Controller option not working

Hello, when you start up the game you get to choose what method of control you can use to play this; Keyboard and Mouse, Controller, or Dualshock4.

Keyboard and Mouse works fine, however whenever I try to use the controller or Dualshock4 option, my controller doesn't seem to be recognised by the game? I cannot select anything on the main menu screen. Is this a common bug and how is it fixed?

For reference, I use a program called DS4Windows which allows me to use a PS4 controller to play PC games; said games have then either recognised the controller as either an Xbox or PS4 one. All other Steam games I have played have worked perfectly with this method.

Try disabling Steam Input and DS4Windows for this game, they might be interfering with the game's controller detection.

did you figure this out? can't get my dual sense to be registered by the game at all with or without DS4windows.

Nope, I just stuck with playing it on Mouse and Keyboard. Thankfully, the game works pretty well on that anyway. Still, a shame it doesn't work with controller...

a bit late on this post but if anyone has trouble the game doesnt detect my controller at first ut then i take off my joy stick and throttle and then the game recognizes my controller just fine

Steam Overlay doesn't even start for me on Windows 11, which I think is required for Steam Input. Works fine on 10 though.

I was having the same issue, but on gamepass version with my dualsense.

To anyone in the future having the same problem, I used HidHide to supplement DS4Windows: https://github.com/ViGEm/HidHide

Once installed, you need to select your PS5 controller in the Devices tab within the configurator, tick the box so the red padlock appears and ensure the 'enable device hiding' box is ticked. For whatever reason this game will block controller input if anything other than Xbox controller is detected, even if emulating.

I was troubleshooting this for ages before I found a solution - hope it helps someone else in same situation!

I've found an easier workaround, simply press PS Button + Triangle to turn off controller (it's the default steam chord). Then press PS button to connect it again, it will show up stating PS5 controller has connected and the input will work.
