Can we have an option to bump that up to 7 or 8? Some of the investigations are just annoyingly difficult.

You can try to do some meaningless actions to get bonus items.

Well you can go back many times aswell with the retry function. So in reality you do have more than 6 minutes.

The time limit really isn't much of an issue if you ask me. You can retry from a checkpoint a few times, and if that isn't enough, you can restart the somnium however many times you want and quickly catch up to where you left off as long as you remember which items to interact with.

Actually you only need to remember the action, since the game remembers the relevant objects for you with a checkmark next to their names.

OP has a point though. If you just want to experience the story, some of the somniums can be really annoying.

I found myself just trying out everything and taking notes at one that was particular difficult to figure out and navigate.

Kinda my point here, they are quite a puzzle when I'm more vested in the story.

Well, I have been gaming different kind of Games for over 30 years, so maybe that is why it was easier to me, but what I generally did was that I did the first 2-3 mental locks, and if my time was low, I'd restart the sync, fast forward to lock 3 (because you can skip dialogue) with the knowledge, and then if I messed up to much I could retry 1-2 times on top of it. Some puzzles are extremely easy, because they shove the solution in your face, while others are kinda abstract, so don't feel bad using this way to do the Psync's.
The only one I really had issues with, was the one that was very dark, because you needed to navigate via the map and 3 points on it, but the game never gives you a compass to know where you are looking. That one annoyed the heck out of me.

Well technically if you open the map in the psync it'll give you the location of all current interactable items.
