Sound is very robotic and staticy
Ok, I just bought this game and finally got it to run in compatability mode.
However, the sound while in cut scenes ir horrible, very staticy and off sounding, with a metallic/robotic reverb.

Any clue how to fix this?

I've been having this problem too. It's really obnoxious...

Make sure to mod and tweak the game. The game is hardly playable on it's own: http://steamcommunity.com/app/9480/discussions/0/846958724811426425/

As for the audio it does sound like it was compressed to fit on a CD like older games. The modding community is hoping the company can release the uncompressed audio files so an audio patch can be made.

That makes alot of sense.. ugh, I am tired of shoddy ports.

There is minor things you can do to make it sound less crappy. By using software that says it enhances audio but really colors it. Using those fake 3D sound effects too. Makes it sound a wee bit better at least. Example is Creative's THX TruSurround or SRS Labs Audio Essentials. There is others too.

Once you're actively playing for awhile it doesn't become as annoying. More so after you mod it too. The gameplay sorta out weights it. ;)

I only hear it in cutscenes where the sound is compressed.

Yeah. Well THQ had the PC port outsourced and well it came back that way. Let's just hope we get better audio patched in the near future.

At least the fun factor is high with this Title. :D
