Saints Row 2

Patch available for Saints Row 2?
Before purchasing the game, I was told that no patches were released for the game outside of steam. I got the game from GamersGate, who provided me with a steam key. Recently, browsing through my GG library, I stumbled across a file on the SR2 page simply called patch.

Here's a link to the file:
http://patches.gamersgate.com/SR2_patch.exe

So do anyone know what this patch actually is supposed to do?
Is it the 1.2 patch, or simply a special GG patch to remove censor from the game (at the stage where GG sold German copies of the game)

If you have a steam key you honestly do not have to worry about that other stuff. Sorry if I didn't answer your question.

I know, but curiosity got me! You know, if no stand alone patches exists, then what is it supposed to do?

Well, there is unofficial patch Gentleman of the Row and some other speed patch, that fixes a lot of things and also improves performance on PCs (SR2 has poor optimization and for instance can run much faster then it should and is then unplayable). In mentioned patch, you can improve input sensitivity, speed etc. I play it now and had no problems at all (without it it was unplayable :)). Oh and I patched it on vanilla installation from Steam.

Yeah I'm using that one alongside with powertools which lets you control the speed of the game... The reason I'm not trying out the patch myself is more or less because the patch might change up some files which could mess up the mod resulting in save game loss...

But yeah, vanilla is pretty much horrid as it is ;-)
