Saints Row 2

Saints Row 2

Horrible FPS for some reason
I'm getting like TWO fps. Using GOTR to make it stable. Never had this problem on my older pc, is it just really not fond of working with W11? Is there something I can do? It's not liking my PC at all

GOTR is great and fun but it doesn't really make the game playable - nowadays you want to install Juiced Patch which might as well be a stand-in for that official patch we never got after Volition got dissolved. There's also some useful and interesting settings in the config file.

The other important thing to install is DXVK 2.4 which will make the game run dramatically better. This guide should help you install those things - it's what I used. It also recommends to install the gog .exe as that is more stable than the one steam uses, not sure if juiced fixes it anyway though.

This pc port runs worse the newer your computer is, so that's probably why you had no issues before. It's a shame we never got official fixes but hopefully that helps.
Is Juiced compatible with GOTR? I really like the features GOTR brings

Should be fine with GOTR, I have it installed too with some of the goofier stuff. It's just not a requirement and doesn't really make the game as playable as some make it out to be.
Don't use windows 11, problem sovled! :steamhappy:

Golly gee, why didn't I think of that? Why don't I uninstall my entire OS that my PC was built for and just restructure everything!

Bugger off with the smartass unhelpful crap

It works great. thanks for the help. It's a shame they never even leaked the source files so WE could fix it

How is it smartass or unhelpful? I was going to tell you to just use gotr + sr2 juiced. But I didn't because I've never used windows 11, because nothing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ works on it. the sr2 pc port was made to work on windows xp and vista. Not windows 11.
These forums are full of people who chime in to post nothing but unhelpful smartass remarks. You only said "don't use that OS" as if that's really a viable option. What you say you were gonna say is not what you said so that can't be taken into account

Juiced and GOTR together fixed my problem. I'm well aware that SR2 was made for older systems. It's always been a fight to get it working, even back then. I just hadn't tried it on my current rig with current OS so I asked to get help on how to run it with my setup

So when I ask "how can I get it to run on W11" and you say "don't use W11 :) ", it reads like a smartass remark

It is, just played the game through earlier this year with Juiced and GOTR installed, only 2 crashes.
I had trouble with the two dlc missions that GOTR added, but other than that it's fine to play with GOTR
I think it's worth noting that framerate of SR2 wasn't exactly "very good" on Xbox360 either. The very first mission 'Jailbreak' especially has lots of light sources and SR2's lighting system is inefficient.
GOTR wasn't designed to fix anything in the first place, why are you using it to make SR2 "stable"?

Play sr2 without gotr, and then play it with gotr. It will crash noticeably less with gotr.

In IdolNinja’s own words, GOTR is “a massive integrated collection of mods, tweaks, and fixes that greatly enhances the game”

Also under the misc section of Gentlemen of the Row v1.9.2 Feature list.txt You can find this.

"* MISC *

Complete Multi-language support now configurable via launch options
All new unlockables and better rewards includes new outfits, weapons, homies, and more
Completely revamped weather including a more vibrant colorful daytime and darker nighttime.
Optional Zombie Uprising at the Mall
2 new custom sets of spraytags
All new CD Locations with new unlockable outfit rewards
Optional chunk mod loads the Prison Riot, Heritage Festival, and Brotherhood tanker chunks permanently during normal open world play
Over 100+ other tweaks and fixes"

I've been modding the game for almost a decade now and there is not 100+ tweaks and fixes. None of the files that he modified have a edit date from past 2013. Most of his mods are haphazard and were done before people figured out optimizations and how to edit files safely. It is a mod pack, from various users. Some who havent played since the PC release in 2009. It does not fix performance.

Then make a better patch if you have been modding for "almost a decade" It's simply a fact that installing gotr will make the game crash less. I never said it increases performance or fps. I said it decreases crashes, this statement is 100% true. If you are going to go around flaunting your skill then make a better patch. Don't ♥♥♥♥ on others people work.
