Embracer Group splits up into 3 different companies
Embracer Group has announced[embracer.com] that they will split up into 3 different companies:
  • Asmodee: For tabletop (non-video) games
  • Coffee Stain & Friends: Contains THQ Nordic. Will handle IPs such as Deep Rock Galactic, Goat Simulator, Satisfactory, Wreckfest, Teardown, and Valheim.
  • Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends: Will have Deep Silver/Plaion IPs including Dead Island, Killing Floor, Kingdom Come Deliverance, The Lord of the Rings, Metro and Tomb Raider.

Although Saints Row is not explicitly stated in the announcement, Saints Row was a Deep Silver/Plaion IP, so most likely "Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends" will handle Saints Row IP from now on.

Now the question is... will Middle-earth revive the Saints Row 2 PC Patch/Rerelease Project?

Doubt it. That would require paying people to work on a project with a potential of zero or extremely limited profit on an ip that just lost significant money and who's fanbase is largely gone now.

Not any time soon, it's not even in the list of important IP's. Take a look through what games and IP's were mentioned as important parts of the breakup. Even Exploding Kittens got named dropped, but Saints Row isn't even on any of the lists, it's in the "and others" category

With everything that Embracer has been doing, I just hope this decision leads to some better choices being made for the future of all the games and studios that have been affected by this mess with this seeming to be a conglomerate breakup.

As for Saints Row, I'm still highly unsure myself. I still have a tiny sliver of hope but if not, modding is kinda all we're going to have to work with
