Stuck on towing the car

I can't tow the car, it says press and hold left shift, which does nothing, same for grabbing people, left shift would only work sometimes, so i changed it to middle mouse and it works everytime.

But i cant change the tow button or whatever, Can anyone help me with this? I get in the right position to tow it but it just doesn't work when I press and hold left shift, I even tried it with a controller and it still didnt work.

Oh I had to hold down shift and then hold down middle mouse (what i changed grab human to)
