I highly doubt it, If anything they did wrote it in the story that his character does die so i don't think Volition is too mad at him, maybe Volition pissed him off and then he left..?
And it's obvious there's no actual bad blood between Volition and David as he was in Saints Row 4.
This is one of the nuttier conspiracy theories I've read.
