Saints Row 2 Co-op/Multiplayer Guide (using RadminVPN)
With the shutdown of Evolve options for playing Saints Row 2 online have really slimmed down a lot. Thankfully there are still VPN programs like RadminVPN and Hamachi, for this guide I will be using the former.

Quick Method:

Step 1:
Download and install RadminVPN: http://www.radmin-vpn.com/

Step 2: (for the host)
Open RadminVPN, navigate to the Network tab and click Create new network. Use any network name/password you wish. (You may need to approve the connection of people that join by right clicking their name and clicking "approve connection.")

Step 2: (for non-hosts)
Open RadminVPN, navigate to the Network tab and click Join an existing network enter the network name/password that the host chose.

Step 3:
Launch SR2 and host or join Co-op/multiplayer as you normally would, make sure you select LAN and not GameSpy.

Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fGrHgSQ638

Troubleshooting(Alternate Method):
No one on the network can see the lobby? Follow these steps.

For the host:
0) Leave the match if you started it already. Complete steps 1 and 2 of the quick method above.

1) Go to the Network and Sharing Center in Windows. Click Change Adapter Settings on the left.

2) Disable your network adapter, either Ethernet or WiFi (it is the one NOT labeled Radmin VPN).

3) Host a LAN game in Saints Row 2, after seeing the message Waiting for Player... Alt-Tab back to Adapter Settings, and re-enable your network adapter. Wait for RadminVPN to reconnect and then tell your co-op partner or group to join.

Don't hesitate to ask for help below, if you experience any issues getting this to work.

Had this worked successfully for you? Tired of trying crap and it doesn't work. I tried a couple of times with a friend on Evolve and never could get it connected.

hey, so I completed steps 1-2 and I didn't know what you meant by "(Be sure you approve the connection of people that join by right-clicking their name in the list.)" because when I right clicked on them there was no option to approve of connection. also when I go to disable Radmin VPN in network adapters it just immediately re-enables again so I don't have time to alt-tab and time it correctly. any suggestions?

If there's no option then they were probably automatically approved.(indicated by a green dot next to their name)

Regarding the network adapter, I forgot to say you should disable the one not labeled Radmin VPN. (i.e.: the one you use to connect to the internet) Also, I'd advise against doing this unless the normal method doesn't work for your setup.
this doesnt work for me

Did you try letting him host instead?

I tried this method, followed step by step but whenever I enter or my friend enters the room, his game crashes. He has the game on Steam while mine is on GoG. He just started the game (tutorial level finished) while I'm around 60% in. Same GoTR config

Could be that the Steam and GoG versions are incompatible. I've tried this with friends on Steam and it works fine.

I did this and it worked but Radmin keeps losing the connection with my friend- so we can only play for minutes at a time.

Have you tried letting your friend host? It could be an issue with your connection, as I've played with people across the Atlantic without any issues.

He was hosting, I guess I could try
