Aside from Soda Dungeon, I'd say Dragon Cliff is the one (specifically talking about rpg idle game hybrids with hero/party management here) I enjoyed the most. That is not entirely a serious game either, but more so than this, IIRC.
If you're looking for f2p specifically, then they exist. One was even mentioned in this topic already. I'm hesitant to suggest others that I have actually tried, because of various (rather extreme) p2w mechanics that were present in them. However, it isn't hard to just go into the steam store and just use the tag system to find similar games. The idler tag specifically will definitely turn up a few. The reviews section will warn you away from the worst of them.
