Because it is a Legendary (Yellow) Armour. And it also boosts Physical Attack Damage.
I know the argument stating the Platinum Armour is better for survivability with its 24% Damage Reduction at HP bonus which you can pump up if paired with a Skull Blade (19% DR), Divine Shield (19% DR), a Silver Necklace (10% DR amd IF) and the DR pet.
But I feel being able to hit hard faster, thus avoiding getting damaged, the better strategy.
However, attack is infinitely increased from a relic where damage reduction is not. That is why platinum armor and karuta are considered better options late game. You can raise your damage above the 1 hit kill threshold with relics alone.
Hitting harder does not guarantee avoiding getting damaged. Any damage over 1 hit kill is useless where you can not avoid ambush damage no matter how hard you hit. That is another reason defensive gear is preferred late game because you WILL get hit no matter what you do so you want to reduce that damage you can't avoid taking as much as possible.
There really is no "set" of gear to go with the radioactive suit similar to the damage reduction or evade gear. It stands on it's own pretty much. The defensive gears actually go together because, unlike attack increase and damage reflection, defensive stats actually get stronger and stronger the more you add.
You can see the basic idea of what I mean by comparing 0% damage reduction and 11% damage reduction where in both cases you'd add 10% more damage reduction.
From 0% damage reduction you go to 90% damage reduction so you're taking 10% less damage.
However, from 11% damage reduction you go to 1% damage reduction which means you're then taking more than 90% less damage than before you added that 10% more.
That should explain the effect I'm talking about where the more defensive stat you add the stronger it gets.
Every bit of defense you can build up to 90% (both evasion and damage reduction are capped at 90% in game) helps survive at higher levels and can even reduce the number of heals necessary by letting your party take more ambush hits before they need to be healed.
I keep consistent 2330-2350 FPH speed. Nobody dies within 12 hours I keep it running everyday. 4 out of 5 runs I spend essence on gold Relic and once on Dmg/HP.
Atleast all of my no limit Relics are all at level 1,500, including the useless ones in the long run like Soda Junkie and Mystic, call it stupid OCD but it's something I found more enjoyable doing than futily clbing up into infinity.
It'll still take awhile to get the full set but kinda wish I had waited.
