Cloud save?
I was under the impression it had cloud saves based on the store page. So I reinstalled my windows 10 this morning. And my save file is now gone. Whats the deal here?

you can send your file to the soda dungeon server, receive a code and use this code to refind your game

Thats the thing. I have no file. It is not downloading my save from the steam cloud. I even tried manually downloading the file and inserting it into the folder, and it still wont use it.

If anyone has any ideas im all ears. Im not restarting from scratch. Ill give it a little time here, then im just going to uninstall since nothing I do apparently is getting saved in the cloud.

Yeah, they're outright lying on the store page unfortunately. Steam usually rejects store page submissions that are dishonest like that, but guess it slipped through.

so its "cloud saved" only if you force it too then have the download code to get your save file back

pretty sure you didnt read what they said, you have to in game, send the file to the SD2 server, then they give you a code to recive your save again

There is no option I have seen in game to accomplish that.

I don't really wanna try this out myself, but it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up if our saves are not getting stored in steam cloud despite the store page is referring to it, isn't this false advertising?

the steam cloud is saving you settings for the game, not the saves, its not false advertising :steamfacepalm:as it is not saying its storing your saves, jsut the settings, to keep you saves you have to on the start menu go to the settings, store your save on the SD2 servers, then get a code to retrive it

It doesn't make sense, why would i wanna store my settings on steam cloud which are like 4 options, instead of my save file, which would be much more convenient. In fact it would be even possible to store both.

1) Appreciate the heads-up from this thread to go have a look and send my data over to the servers, just in case I want/need a backup.

2) The way the cloud save works in this game is certainly misleading, or at least very easy to miss. People are at risk of losing a lot of time and effort if extra attention isn't spent doing something about this.

I would say the assumption for virtually any game using a Cloud Save (via Steam) is that when you play the game, it is being backed up. I don't care how you want to define that, but if I lost my machine, loaded Steam on another device (or same one, after a full reinstall), I could just download the game and continue where I left off. Period.

Just having 'settings' saved is ridiculous. I'd ALWAYS prefer that if there is a cloud save feature associated with a game, then you MUST save my game data and just ignore my settings...hopefully should be able to save those settings easily as well, but you really, really need to save my game data.
