Axiom Verge 2

Why do people continue supporting this game?
To be honest this game is extremely bad. Yeah I said it. The first game was next to perfect. It's sad to see a fellow dev team go in the wrong direction. Look to games that could be an improvement then add those features to your own. Things like Hollow Knight, Ori, Aeterna Noctis, etc The fact that you made the original means you have potential. Return to those roots.

As someone who really disliked the first game I click way more with this game. It might simply be that your own opinion isn't an universal truth. Just because you dislike a game doesn't mean it's a bad game

just finished this game.
I mean... it is kind of a mixed bag but I don't hate it that much.
I see why one would hate it, the combat ain't the best and is a downgrade to the first, the map is a confusing mess, real bossfights are virtually nonexistent and late-game abilities makes the game more confusing to traverse than anything, especially when it comes to backtracking for completition, also the story, despite giving a decent loredump for the first, is not that engaging.
I do kinda like some of the new stuff, but I can't really say I hate; I've seen worse, more unfunny titles, this may be a small misstep, but it still is a decent game.

it definitely has its flaws and it's very different from the original but I think a lot of its changes are more sidegrades than downgrades. I've never really played a platformer that controls like it before or since, and I like how weighty and grounded it feels honestly. I hold it on par with the original, which is already a game I hold in high regard.

I think its worldbuilding especially hooked me, because I thought that was done very well. Even if it's a bit hard to follow at times, the story Axiom Verge is telling is gripping and I really wanna see more of it. I honestly wouldn't mind an Axiom Verge 3 taking heavily from this game, though I still hope it'd be kind of its own thing at the same time, like 2 is to 1.

So to answer your question, I "continue supporting the game" because...I think it's good. Simple as.

also this game is significantly better than hollow knight and both ori games just saying

>Why do people continue supporting this game?

Because some people can enjoy a wide variety of gameplay and don't need a sequel to be exactly the same as the original. Yes, it's more melee-focused but I've played a ton of Metroid clones with melee...what's another?

>To be honest this game is extremely bad. Yeah I said it

Yeah, you said it. Doesn't make it true. If you want to say it's not as good as the first then fine but spare me on how it's so terrible. Hyperbole doesn't convince anyone here.

>Look to games that could be an improvement then add those features to your own. Things like Hollow Knight, Ori, Aeterna Noctis, etc

These games play nothing like Metroid and Axiom Verge, especially with the emphasis on heavy platforming. Axiom Verge's focus is more on exploring the worlds and finding secrets.

>the map is a confusing mess,

No, it's not. You can mark areas you can return to and the borders around the map show you when you're missing a room.

>real bossfights are virtually nonexistent

Probably the biggest drawback but it's not a deal-breaker.

>also this game is significantly better than hollow knight and both ori games just saying

Down boy.

To me, is one of the best metroidvanias ever made! Both 1 and 2 are masterpieces
^Agreed. Just finished it myself and felt the game was a lot of fun. Had me totally hooked on exploring every pixel, if possible.

Yes, the bosses are disappointing and I also enjoyed the variety of guns in the first game. But I've also played a ton of melee-focused Metroid clones so I didn't feel this was a huge departure. And all the rest of the stuff from the first game were there...tons of secrets, fun times as a droid, cool music, variety of cool abilities, etc. Thought the Breach was a cool way to explore as well. If one wants to say the first one was better, sure, but they're both great games either way.

My only reason for supporting AV2 is that I want a third game - to finally find out how this whole plot ends and what happened to Trace. Because I hate open endings with every fiber of my being. I spent hours to save my boy, and don't anybody dare to tell me it's gonna end like Another World or Goodbye Deponia.

I love the first game got it for all my consoles and beat them all a few times each on them.

This game I got on switch and couldn't beat it, I hate the changes the combat is no fun at all, the enemies are lame compared to the first game, and dislike how normal the levels are in this compared to the surrealness of the first game.

2nd game is just an inferior game too me.
>to finally find out how this whole plot ends and what happened to Trace.

We know what happens to Trace. They show it at the end of the game with the true ending. We don't need a third game just to rehash this because you didn't get it or you insist there's some dumb conspiracy.

>because I hate open endings with every fiber of my being.

Good thing they showed you his end then, right?

>or Goodbye Deponia.

That wasn't even the ending since they had the fourth game.

Enemies so lame that you couldn't beat it? Huh? The game is extremely easy. But so was the first...
