I agree that the gameplay would likely change a lot to accommodate their TWD game engine, but the story was the best part of BttF, the engine kinda sucked, and controls were very clunky at times, compared to modern games.
I quite enjoy the TWD gamestyle. Sure, it can be argued that it's more an interactive movie than a game, and sure, your decisions don't REALLY matter that much... but I still think they do a great job with the storytelling.
Technically, most of the events in the game happened in an earlier time period than those in the movies.
