Purge the Heretics my Brothers
Late reply is late, but if you download Robot-Rob's file, only extract the Engine folder. The Date folder is responsible for changing the mouse cursor, but I actually find the cursor scaling is perfectly fine for Windows 10, it's just the text that's too small.
I only see two folders. Drivers and Engine. White Date folder are you talking about? Is there a specific file I should delete? I implemented the whole mod and my font is fixed by now my mouse cursor is horribly small. Thanks in advance for any help.
Just a forewarning that whatever I make is going to be tested in Windows 10 (I'm currently on 1903) on an ultrawide monitor, but I will do what I can to account for other setups.
The first and most important change I made was to set the DPI scaling options:
> Right-click the Soulstorm.exe file in the game folder (or any prior game's executable)
> Properties
> Change settings for all users (at the bottom)
> Change high DPI settings (again at the bottom)
> High DPI scaling override - click the checkbox next to "Override high DPI scaling behavior"
> Select "Application" from the dropdown menu.
That's it! That should fix the cursor and font scaling issues. If you've made any changes to the font files I would just reinstall the game, or delete those files and do an integrity check.
The other change you'll want to make is with the resolution. I recommend setting it to a resolution where the width is a common number in a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution -1920 for example - but the height resolution can be whatever you normally run at. So right now I normally use 3440 x 1440, but for this I changed it to 1920 x 1440. Doing this affects how far the camera is zoomed in during normal gameplay. With my native resolution I was able to see like.. one building across my entire screen. Not great! Now it looks perfect if I just ignore the huge letterboxes from the parts of my monitor it's no longer using. But it's super playable, so that's okay!
I hope this works for you, and let me know if you need more help.
I tried to do what you've posted on Dark Crusade but on the High DPI scaling override option the selected option was already "Application." So I think I should change the High DPI scaling override option to "System" because apparently the game's scaling wasn't working properly. So I think this option would make the game scale to my desktop's DPI setting. When I applied the settings then the game's fonts have been bigger as it should be. Then I've been so happy because with this level of scaling fortunately I could be able this game to play at 4K. Then when I changed the resolution to 4K I couldn't see the whole screen of my game. It was like the game got something like 1000% zoom that I couldn't see the whole screen. And even "System (Enhanced)" didn't work. But I've had font mod installed. So maybe the issue was that. I don't know nor I want to download the game again. So could you please test this on Dark Crusade too if you have 4K TV?
Hey man, thanks for the reply first of all!
So, I tried your suggestion and it didn't work unfortunately. So, unless you have another suggestion, it seems trying to figure out which parts of the mod to install for the font/cursor is the next best solution.
For the Dawn of War Soulstorm Font and Cursor 4K mod, there are two main folders: Drivers and Engine.
Diver only contains spdx9.config after a few clicks
Engine contains two main folders after a few clicks, which are 1) Art and 2) Font
Art contains 5 gfxfont files.
Font contains about 10 FNT files and 3 Truetype Font Files.
So I'm not sure which file(s) to not install, and I'm not aware of how to take a screenshot and post it on here at the moment. Let me know what you think. Thanks again for your reply and hope to hear from you soon.
So, please let me know what files you think effect the mouse cursor size.
Well, you should overwrite the files with the ones in the game's folder. Don't worry about the other files don't affect the cursor size. Other files will change the font which will be helpful too. Why don't you just overwrite all the files with the current ones in the game's folder? It won't do anything bad.
To take a screenshot you could easily learn how to do so by searching "How to take a screenshot and post on forums" on Google. So just press on Print Screen button. Then open Paint, and press CTRL+V and save the image file. Then choose an image uploader site such as "imgur.com" or "tinypic.com" then upload the image file you've saved by clicking on browse or the button that does that. Then copy the link of the file to post on the forums and paste it here. That is weird that you don't know how to post a screenshot even taking a screenshot while you can know how to use Steam. LOL. XD
When I replaced the files in the original dawn of war game with the font mods, it also changed the mouse cursor. That's why I asked about this issue.
You're either incapable of reading or being disingenuous. My point which I have made several times now which you're refusing to comprehend is that the mod makes the mouse cursor smaller. So I'm wondering which specific part of the mod relates to the cursor size/font so I can edit/remove it so I can see the mouse when I play.
I do not expect a real answer from you though since you're either stupid or a troll. Which one is it?
I tried this fix and it definitely worked for my mouse. But the font for lettering is still tiny. I tried it at 4K and 1920x1080. Neither one made a difference. I was wondering if you had anything else I could try as well?
