I agree with the flyers, but none of them are really overpowered anyway, just pose a tactical element that is immune to enemy close combat fighters.
As you can imagine, many players gave up on the game. Soulstorm was left with inactive lobbies and a tarnished reputation, the effects of which can still be seen today.
Campaign is missing a bunch of stuff, some units were apparently not put in due to time constraints and they didn't have time to record the witty banter between commanders on the stronghold missions.
And yeah, as said already, aircraft suck.
This alongside all of the problems mentioned before lead to the hot mess that is Soulstorm. Dark Crusade simply feels like a more polished and finished product so it is more favored.
Hmmm.....
SS throws that lore out of the window entirely and i mean entirely.
while DC tried to stick as close to acceptable lore as possible bent it a lil but still kept close as possible.
i mean; "sir a shipment of 100 bandeblades has just been sent out to serve." that is an impossibility.. seriously, the IG is lucky to get their hands upon 1 baneblade let alone 2 for a single regiment.
not to mention the SM commander, Carrion, Taucommander, Caerys, and the necron lord.. don't get mestarted on him.
I can understand the hate for Carron and Boreale, but what's wrong with Or'es'Ka, Caerys and the Necron Lord? Or'es'Ka seemed ok to me, if a little bland. I had no problems with Caerys, it was the Yorkshire Warlock that she hung out with that was cringeworthy. The Necron Lord I thought was great though.
The balance of power between races in Dark Crusade was an absolute joke. Necrons were a powerhouse that became closer and closer to unstoppable as time went on. The Imperial Guard were terrible.
In Soulstorm, the Necrons likely sit on the lower end of the spectrum after their nerfs from Dark Crusade, but the gap between races; as I said, is more narrow.
