DOW - Failing to Open and configure graphics....

Hi Guys, I recently purchased Dawn Of War 1 Master collection as I miss playing this original collection of the game title DOW. But every time I click play The screen goes black then just goes back to my desktop screen...with this message....The application GraphicsConfig.exe has encountered an error.

Apparently it's to do with the game failing to configure its graphics...

What can I do to resolve this as I just paid £30.00 for this and it'll be such a shame to have wasted this money due to a damn error.

Please help!

Go into the game folder and run GraphicsConfig.exe manually, then configure your graphics, save it, and run Dawn of War as usual.

You can access the games folder quickly via:

Right click on the game,
Select Properties,
Select the Local Files tab,
Click on BROWSE LOCAL FILES... button.

Configure my graphics to what though? As don't want to configure them so other games don't work :(

Whatever your system has installed, it's pretty easy to run GraphicsConfig.exe manually, accept the defaults (or correct them if wrong) then click Accept / OK.

It cannot make it any worse and is a 'per game' configuration, it will not impact your other DoW games.

When i run the graphics test after choosing either safe mode of optimal mode... when i test the screen goes black then just goes back to this screen...

Then you're just using the wrong settings, try something else and see if that works.

No biggie.
Just try different settings until you find out what works.

I.e. Maybe your PC has two video cards and you are selecting the wrong one, or maybe you have the resolution set too high, too low, or to something your monitor does not support.

Here's an idea, load GraphicsConfig for your other Dawn of War games and see what settings they are using, then just use the same settings for this one.

I only play DOW2 that runs fine... the original DOW games don't... lol

Are you running Windows 8.0 / 8.1 ?

There is a fix for it that requires right clicking the game EXE files, going Properties, then selecting Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Yeah 8.1 ahhh i see will it just do it for that game then ?
