Constant Stuttering
So I have well over 500 hours in this game and until recently, no problems at all. Quite recently though, the game has started constantly dropping frames and stuttering, to the point of becoming unplayable because I can't even select my units. This is the only game I have this issue with and it's just started a few days ago. I've tried verifying integrity of cache, fiddling with settings, reinstalling all for games and nothing seems to fix it. Does anyone have any idea because it is driving me insane. It's behaves as if there is an insufficient CPU issue, but I can play total war warhammer 3 without issues. It makes no sense to me.

I managed to figure it out. It was a very strange issue to due with an NVIDIA driver update that I was not aware of. It was actually quite an easy fix following this guide, although I have never come across something like this before. Will leave it here if anyone has a similar issue.

Thank you Crukih. You saved a game I've played for years and thought I'd have to drop.

Instead of linking to an external source that might get deleted a copy & paste of it:
steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Drivers\spdx9_config.txt

Replace:
allowhwcursor 1

With:
allowhwcursor 0

Google tags because that trainwreck of a search engine can't find sh*t these days:
Dawn of War Soulstorm
DOW SS
Dawn of War DOW
Warhammer
Soulstorm SS
stutter stuttering stutters
framedrop frame drop
mouse cursor
unplayable
lag lags lagging
freeze freezes freezing
DOW Dawn of War mouse issue
DOW Dawn of War cursor issue

Funny thing is the Reddit post stated he found the solution on the Steam forums but didn't link to the source and this Steam thread links to Reddit.

Mod manager has this and other things (no fog) as a tick box, it's quite fabulous.

Something I have just noticed is that certain refresh rates can cause graphical issues. On my end, having my refresh rate set to 75hz causes heaps of stuttering and some other minor graphical errors, while on 60hz it runs fine. I hope this helps.
