Beating Eldar as Necrons in normal campaign
I think the title is pretty self explanaitory.

So, I'm playing the campaign on normal difficulty, as necrons. In my first two rounds I managed to easily kill the eldar HQ. I thought that would eliminate the entire faction from the game but apparently that's not how it works?

So I attacked a random territory and holy damn, how am I supposed to beat them? In the first five minutes I managed to take control over half the map but they just kept coming, I then noticed there are two AIs on the map and then I just quit because I played the mission for like an hour , only defending my two last points. I was not losting but couldn"t advance.

Am I just retarded or is a random map harder than faction HQ to beat?

Any tips to crush eldar as Necrons?

Typically when I play as any faction and another is beating my hard into a stalemate what I try to do is preserve units and hold them back.

Basically what can happen is you end up spending all your resources on bringing units back into squads you've got and leaving nothing to expand with.

So I try to keep units alive as long as possible and save up some resources to build another squad - even just basic infantry for the army. Then all the auto-rebuild goes back on and I aim to restore the front line and maintain the stalemate.

Rinse and repeat a few times and each time you add a new squad try to keep it back from the front line. What you're basically doing is aiming to hold a line with a limited force and let you build up a larger assault force. Then when you've a bunch of units ready and waiting you can strike one of the enemy bases. Your defensive force can hold the line at home against the other returning; whilst your new assault army just smashes the enemy base. If you win that great; you've just taken an opponent out.

Also get into the habit of watching units degrade and if they get too few squad members (3 or less) pull them back to restore numbers before sending them back into the fight.

well if im correct taking the enimy HQ removes their army and stops them renforcing their turf so with their HQ gone even if you lose a mission its power level will go down if it drops below a certain point those 2 bases will turn into 1 base then 1 base with elite infantry then 1 base with basic infantry

war of endurance how many times do you get hit before you buckle

So I went full defense and it worked! I slowly shredded their base with scarabs and the necron lord, as I had enough power to keep respawning them, while they were sending their forces into a chokepoint I created. I got so many kills the game was lagging because there were too many bodies on the ground.

Thanks for the help !

You're welcome!

In general AI in RTS games don't deal well with defensive turtling tactics. So if you can hold a line and build up behind it you can often power through the AI in stages (or in one big go).

And yep one of the big things in this game is to keep an eye on your resources. It's super easy to right click the icon and keep regenerating troops in units, and sometimes that's just what you want to do. But sometimes you need to pause it and take losses or pull back to allow you to upgrade to the next tech level or build a new unit or a tank etc...

Sometimes they get 2 bases, it tells you before the battle with the intel. "enemy has a small base" or something, that turns into "enemy has an elite force" (I cant remember exactly what it says)

i suggest having a necron lord with the revival orb thingy (i forgot its name) but its always good to have with your main army (cough cough, reviving your entire dead army mid battle, cough cough
