Requesting CD Key...
Cannot unlock all races for multiplayer. Steam CD Keys section indicates "Requesting CD Key." That... doesn't really help me.

well the cd key should pop out when you launch the game, or you can google the cd key

That's just it. Bought the games through Steam and Steam isn't giving me the CD keys. It just says "Requesting Key."
fuggles2k Jul 3, 2022 @ 11:03pm
Have you installed them?
chaplain_Ironfist Jul 4, 2022 @ 11:21am
In my exp, you have to have all 4 installed, and run each one, in order, allowing the video to config, etc. The order just in case, is : DOW, DOW Winter (guard), DOW - Dark Crusade (necrons/tau), DOW - Soul storm (dark elves/sisters). When I reload, i go in and go into the army painter and create a custom paint scheme or two, setting up a profile TO play, multiplayer settings, and all that as I go. I had no issues anywhere when i did it this way, and had all races avail when playing Soul storm multi. missing one will remove the bonus content (races) from that expansion. Hope this Helps.

I got it fixed, but with CD keys that aren't even mine. I'm still mad that Steam won't give me the CD keys to the product that I purchased. I have to steal my own property?

Heh, just as I was done with an answer.

Windows program search -> Regedit -> run as admin
Depending on whether you're using a 32bit or 64bit system navigate along these paths:
main 32bit system path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\
main 64bit system path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\THQ\
That's the main folder where all Dawn of War games should have their own sub-entries, as follows. Check the entries. If an entry already exists then leave it be, if one is missing then add it from here.

Example:
1st Path to navigate to on a 32bit system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm

1st Path to navigate to on a 64bit system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm

... = the main 32bit or 64bit path.
Most systems will be 64bit. If you're unsure whether you're using 32bit or 64bit check your system info.

...\Dawn of War - Soulstorm
CDKEY"="0000-0000-0000-0000-0000
DXP2CDKEY=76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935
W40KCDKEY=4124-350F-AB81-AC52
WXPCDKEY=87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7
Each entry is a string. If it doesn't exist: Right-click -> new -> string -> Name it as listed here (for example: CDKEY), then hit ok, then double-click on it and enter the key -> ok

Specifically for Soulstorm:
CDKEY=Soulstorm CD Key; for the other games it's their own CD Key instead
W40KCDKEY=Dawn of War CD Key - unlocks Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Chaos Space Marines
WXPCDKEY=Winter Assault CD Key - unlocks Imperial Guard
DXP2CDKEY=Dark Crusade CD Key - unlocks Necrons, Tau

Alternate CD keys:
Dawn of War: 61e2-4fb6-d8e7-00ee
Winter Assault: 38f1-bce2-48d0-f054-dda6
Dark Crusade: 9294-8231-8be6-7844-ec37
Soulstorm: 75be-f544-0ac2-bc82-789f

For the other games:
Dark Crusade: If this folder doesn't exist create it.
...\Dawn Of War - Dark Crusade
CDKEY=76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935
W40KCDKEY=4124-350F-AB81-AC52
WXPCDKEY=87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7
Each entry is a string. If it doesn't exist: Right-click -> new -> string -> Name it as listed here (for example: CDKEY), then hit ok, then double-click on it and enter the key -> ok

Dawn of War: If this folder doesn't exist create it.
...\Dawn Of War
CDKEY=4124-350F-AB81-AC52
CDKEY_WXP=87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7
Each entry is a string. If it doesn't exist: Right-click -> new -> string -> Name it as listed here (for example: CDKEY), then hit ok, then double-click on it and enter the key -> ok

Windows program search -> Regedit -> run as admin
Depending on whether you're using a 32bit or 64bit system navigate along these paths:
32bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\
64bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\THQ\
This is the main folder in which 3 sub-folders need to exist or to be created, if those don't exist yet.

Taking a 32bit system as example the final result should look like this (just without quotation marks):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn Of War]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"CDKEY_WXP"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn Of War - Dark Crusade]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935"
"W40KCDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"WXPCDKEY"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="0000-0000-0000-0000-0000"
"DXP2CDKEY"="76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935"
"W40KCDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"WXPCDKEY"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn Of War]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"CDKEY_WXP"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn Of War - Dark Crusade]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935"
"W40KCDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"WXPCDKEY"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm]
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\THQ\\Dawn of War Soulstorm"
"CDKEY"="0000-0000-0000-0000-0000"
"DXP2CDKEY"="76C0-6973-CF45-9954-B935"
"W40KCDKEY"="4124-350F-AB81-AC52"
"WXPCDKEY"="87B8-BB4B-EAED-10F8-89A7"

Alternate CD keys:
Dawn of War: 61e2-4fb6-d8e7-00ee
Winter Assault: 38f1-bce2-48d0-f054-dda6
Dark Crusade: 9294-8231-8be6-7844-ec37
Soulstorm: 75be-f544-0ac2-bc82-789f

Basically inside the THQ folder the sub-folders for each game need to exist. You do this by selecting the THQ folder, then clicking in the right side panel of the registry that shows the files inside that folder with a right-click. From the context menu you select: new -> key
Then you name that key after the game that's missing an entry (Example: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade).
Then you select the game's folder (example: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade). On the right side panel of the registrly that shows the files inside that folder right-click on some empty area again. From the context menu select: new -> string
Then name the string after the CD key string that's required (example: CDKEY). Repeat this until all strings that are necessary have been created. Once created double-click on a string and copy & paste the matching entry from this thread into it.

Proceed until all entries have been made. Run the game in admin mode. Alternatively add a -nomovies start parameter to it by navigating to the game in your Steam library -> right-click -> properties -> launch options: -nomovies
This removes the game's intros each time it's run.

Has anyone done this recently? I reached out to SEGA this morning, sent pictures of my CD cases, but they responded back saying this offer was made in 2015 and has since expired. I've emailed back asking to escalate and dispute, but curious if anyone has been able to trade their CD keys for a Steam key after 2015.

I've definitely heard of people doing it in the last year.

Did it in 2022, and until not long ago, they had the procedure in a post fixed in the DoW games forums...
