Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Sister vs Guard is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible.
Enemy captures Strategic points with unending IG squads like it's nothing, then summons a giant army and destroys your guys within minutes. Good luck trying to fight guard on a big map, cause they will just ♥♥♥♥ out a giant army and squash you.

You kill their whole army and they just ♥♥♥♥ out another one, complete with grenade laucnhers and comissars. At fortification 6 comp gets 2 bases per a large map. You can hardly beat one (spoiler: you can't if you don't rush), but then you get two... amazing.

Not to mention -- sisters die just as fast (for 35 req a reinf vs 20 for guard), if not faster than IG (I guess ♥♥♥♥ power armour, let's just pretend that it's a flak jacket). Actually... scratch that... SoB can't fight anyone just like in 2008. Incredibly unfathomably weak, unplaytested and absolutely impossible to win with.

Even with Honour guard you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ogryns, Kasrkin, Bombers, whatever else spam. It would have been difficult enough with JUST the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Baneblade (Baneblade can take on your entire force, that's 3 normal squads with priests, two celestials, honour guard, a confessor, a canoness, three immolators with multi-meltas and not even get to 3/4s health), but no -- you gotta throw EVERYTTHING at the player. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sadist programmed this who shouldn't be anywhere near a computer.

Two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ squads: one ogryns, one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Kasrkin took out two listening posts, two towers with meltas and four honour guard units, plus two normal ones with heavy bolters and a Confessor.

What the ♥♥♥♥ is the point of making a faction, an entire army of which, can be taken out by TWO IG SQUADS or one Relic unit? Why not just clone Ogryns and put them everywhere, if they can take out an entire army and a base by tthemselves? Terrible ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ balance.

you might want to reduce the difficulty if you're having this much of a problem with the imperial guard, or maybe just stockpile some planetary requesition so you can use uor forward base passive and deploy structures and units to captured areas.
No, there has to be a way and it has to be on hard. I can do Skirmish on Insane, but this infuriates me.

Rush one base immediately and kill it. Don’t wait a single moment, send your forces as soon as the mission starts. You’ll need an honor guard to do this.
It’s incredibly difficult to fight two ai bases simultaneously once they get rolling, as you know.
No, I know. I have done the campaign on hard for every race, except SoB. It’s so easy for Marines, Tau and IG, but it is so hard for sisters.

It shocks me that you can lose your entire army if you don’t babysit it in seconds.

I am fown to Leman Russ factory and Chimera at level 5 alert in IG stronghold, and it’s a stalemate (if I wait he does get the upper hand, because SoB eat my resources on constant reinforcement). I think I will not wait for a Baneblade and just rush, before they ♥♥♥♥ out another horde.

Ah I’m sorry. So you are quite experienced, since you’ve done it with other factions.

Well I’m not a Sisters player, but I do know the AI is weak to early aggression. It is also quite bad at micro. So for example, it won’t disengage from melee even when it should, and it won’t keep its distance properly even with weapons that have minimum range (e.g. grenade launchers). You can exploit these shortcomings.

IG will have lots of infantry so try to use aoe abilities. Things like Phosphor Grenades and Battle Sister flamers, Emperor’s Wrath from the Confessor, and in the late game, Exorcist tanks will be effective. Just be careful that you don’t use grenades or wrath when the enemy has fanaticism active, of course.

And in general, try to “close the gap”. IG is very strong at range with artillery, tanks and big stationary guns (HWT and turrets). Rush in, don’t let them pick you apart from far away.
I have serpentia to tie ogryns and the organ-arty for disruption. The problem is their numbers, and softness of my troops.

I need to play more skirmish with them, I don’t use abilities as often as I should. But in Skirmish the fight is over before i get to like tier 2.5.

As soon as I see Karskin I engage in melee with 1 squad, even if it’s something like celestials. Otherwise they will MG-42 you.

One small note, it’s probably not worth it to fight Ogryns with Repentia. Ogryns are arguably the strongest melee squad in the whole game and on hard difficulty the AI even gets an hp bonus. Don’t fight them directly, try to kite them.
I need to tie them somehow, repentia are just my anvil, the rest are the hammer.

Is this in skirmish, campaign or what?

Campaign is entirely structured around honour guard rush.
Emperor's Leotard Swimsuit, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ finally. At 2 hours and 20 minutes I have finally beat the IG stronghold on hard as Sisters.

I don't remember SS being like this, but Imperial Guard need to be seriously nerfed, especially the weapon teams and the heatlh of individual troops and their range. They are ridiculously overpowered.

A 6-strength ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ territory is nearly impossible to capture, even with honour guard.

Yeah sisters of battle is a challenging race to play but I have found they are actually not too bad (But they are still the weakest faction in the game). Whilst being overall very weak they do have a few things going for them.

I had a breakthrough when I realised that celestians are best when they are not upgraded with the meltas and multi metla. If you leave them as is they will absolutely shred through IG. Late and midgame army for me works best as celestian spam with only a couple of squads equipped with the anti vechicle + buliding stuff. Always make sure to have a missionary with each squad and absolutely spam their faith abilities (mainly the healing one and laser beam one.)
I am already at the last two Strongholds, shredding enemy like they're nothing. It's a matter of keeping an eye on your teams and micromanaging abilities, once you learn them off by heart it's pretty incredible.

Except the forces of gayos have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up again -- now, after defeating their stronghold all the saves are corrupted, and the game quit as I won and took a screenshot.

I swear to Emperor, actual chaos gods exist.

Good thing I've made 10 saves, but the funny thing is, all the ones (that's about 5, or half of them) that I've had before rebuilding my army got corrupted. Interesting. "coincidence" *shakes powerfist at the warp*.

The big problem I find with Sisters is that they're overspecialized.

I'm talking about the same level of specialization as the eldar have, but without things like being able to cloak your entire base and outrun anything except fast vehicles.

And the use of Acts of Faith is so crucial to compensating that playing sisters turns into either a micromanagement festival, or you just load up artillery and penitent engines and planes to break their forces, and a couple celestian squads to erase all their buildings while they try to get rid of the penitent engines.

I wish it wasn't like that, but the sisters are priced about like marines, but not as sturdy or as versatile without acts.

The act that turns all their attacks into burny holy lasers allows battle sisters or celestians to fight /anything/ for a while, so long as they stay at range. Which is why I just run celestians overall, because I can load them up with meltas to kill buildings and vehicles, and leave all the troops to artillery, repentia, and engines. If some infantry gets by, an act of faith will make the celestians effective against them.

It's really, really repetitive though. Kinda like what the chaos campaign turns into, where you're doing nothing but charging with your honor guard and lord to wipe out the enemy, instead of building (after all, unlike DC, you don't get to keep your base anyway.)
