It’s incredibly difficult to fight two ai bases simultaneously once they get rolling, as you know.
It shocks me that you can lose your entire army if you don’t babysit it in seconds.
I am fown to Leman Russ factory and Chimera at level 5 alert in IG stronghold, and it’s a stalemate (if I wait he does get the upper hand, because SoB eat my resources on constant reinforcement). I think I will not wait for a Baneblade and just rush, before they ♥♥♥♥ out another horde.
Well I’m not a Sisters player, but I do know the AI is weak to early aggression. It is also quite bad at micro. So for example, it won’t disengage from melee even when it should, and it won’t keep its distance properly even with weapons that have minimum range (e.g. grenade launchers). You can exploit these shortcomings.
IG will have lots of infantry so try to use aoe abilities. Things like Phosphor Grenades and Battle Sister flamers, Emperor’s Wrath from the Confessor, and in the late game, Exorcist tanks will be effective. Just be careful that you don’t use grenades or wrath when the enemy has fanaticism active, of course.
And in general, try to “close the gap”. IG is very strong at range with artillery, tanks and big stationary guns (HWT and turrets). Rush in, don’t let them pick you apart from far away.
I need to play more skirmish with them, I don’t use abilities as often as I should. But in Skirmish the fight is over before i get to like tier 2.5.
As soon as I see Karskin I engage in melee with 1 squad, even if it’s something like celestials. Otherwise they will MG-42 you.
Campaign is entirely structured around honour guard rush.
I don't remember SS being like this, but Imperial Guard need to be seriously nerfed, especially the weapon teams and the heatlh of individual troops and their range. They are ridiculously overpowered.
A 6-strength ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ territory is nearly impossible to capture, even with honour guard.
I had a breakthrough when I realised that celestians are best when they are not upgraded with the meltas and multi metla. If you leave them as is they will absolutely shred through IG. Late and midgame army for me works best as celestian spam with only a couple of squads equipped with the anti vechicle + buliding stuff. Always make sure to have a missionary with each squad and absolutely spam their faith abilities (mainly the healing one and laser beam one.)
I swear to Emperor, actual chaos gods exist.
Good thing I've made 10 saves, but the funny thing is, all the ones (that's about 5, or half of them) that I've had before rebuilding my army got corrupted. Interesting. "coincidence" *shakes powerfist at the warp*.
I'm talking about the same level of specialization as the eldar have, but without things like being able to cloak your entire base and outrun anything except fast vehicles.
And the use of Acts of Faith is so crucial to compensating that playing sisters turns into either a micromanagement festival, or you just load up artillery and penitent engines and planes to break their forces, and a couple celestian squads to erase all their buildings while they try to get rid of the penitent engines.
I wish it wasn't like that, but the sisters are priced about like marines, but not as sturdy or as versatile without acts.
The act that turns all their attacks into burny holy lasers allows battle sisters or celestians to fight /anything/ for a while, so long as they stay at range. Which is why I just run celestians overall, because I can load them up with meltas to kill buildings and vehicles, and leave all the troops to artillery, repentia, and engines. If some infantry gets by, an act of faith will make the celestians effective against them.
It's really, really repetitive though. Kinda like what the chaos campaign turns into, where you're doing nothing but charging with your honor guard and lord to wipe out the enemy, instead of building (after all, unlike DC, you don't get to keep your base anyway.)
