The most recent official installation video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-e_Q1I9iTM
The latest version says it comes with an installer, so if this is a clean install (no previous versions) it should pretty much install itself. I'm using an older version and haven't updated, so I don't know exactly if there are any issues.
The notes on the latest version do say that you'll need to install the Tyranids mod separately. https://www.moddb.com/mods/tyranid-mod
Also, Cylarne's latest installation video linked above still links to this step-by-step so I assume it is still good: https://pastebin.com/v36KkUzM
It mentions the objectives points file, I don't know if the installer takes care of that or not. It's been years since I've had to worry about the objective points file since my last install from scratch was years ago, so I really cannot remember specifics.
Sorry if this wasn't much help, if I get around to installing the latest version sometime soon and it's more complicated that just using the installer (plus Tyranids) I'll try and post any extra steps.
It usually finds it O.K anyway. it's just and .exe, click it and follow instructions.
I had more trouble with the Tyranids mod, you download in the same way but it will also download two more folders called 'free UI' and 'Objective points' when you run the installer (apparently you only really need the second one). It downloads these as 7z files. You have to download another program called 7zip, use this to extract those folders, and then put them into your Soulstorm folder. You then have to activate the Tyranids Mod in the 'Game manager' on the title screen. UA started without activation.
I went through a lot of swearing to gain this information I hope it will help somebody else.
I think it's useful
