P.S. Get CSM cloak
For guard, easiest way early on in campaign is to hold out until you can get the baneblade and lemon russ tanks. Once you have them, put baneblade in centre flanked by 2 lemon russ tanks and use ogryns and command squad in front to keep the anti vehicle fire off the tanks. Make sure you have priests and use the fanatism ability when the fighting gets heavy. Put kasrkins and guardsmen behind to kill anything that gets close. This formation is extremely difficult to defeat and generally it can just creep forward and destroy anything in it's path. Adding some techpriest to repair tanks, or heavy weapons teams for extra fire support from behind helps too.
As for making it to that point, remember that guard can garrison in their buildings and fire out. Their turrets are also quite strong. I recommend building infantry command in front of important strategic points (or your base) with turrets behind. Guardsman have better firepower outside the buildings, but when they start taking casualties or moral breaks, put them in the infantry command. Works well until the anti vehicle stuff comes out, which you should have heavier firepower by then.
Also don't forget that squad commanders make a huge difference with the guard. Commissar execute is OP, spam often when there is heavy fighting. It will boost any infantry units nearby, including kasrkins and heavy weapons teams. Always have priests with kasrkin and ogryn squads.
Against Sisters of Battle, heavy weapons teams with the autocannons will chew up their infantry (as any team that relies on heavy infantry), as will guardsman plasma guns. If they spam vehicles, heavy weapons teams with lasguns, sentinels and psycher's curse of machine spirits will help greatly. Once Baneblade and lemos are on the field, they will deal with enemy armour.
Later in the campaign you should rush with your honour guard, just like every other faction. Avoid attacking strength 5+ (when enemy has 2 bases) until your honour guard is strong enough to rush one base and destroy it quickly.
Also, on HQ missions the AI doesn't rebuild buildings. You can abuse the Basilisk's earth shaker rounds (or attack ground if you are patient/poor) to just gradually level their bases from long range. It works well on those annoying shrines in Sisters of Battle HQ, as you can hit one with attack ground to lure the angel then earth shaker another.
