You can try to isolate what the problem is. If you're able to get a 3rd person involved, try to have him make the game. While constantly refreshing the game, see who is able to join. If there is someone who isn't, it is an issue pertaining to him. If both join just fine, try having you and your steam friend make a game for yourselves again. And so on.
So long as both of you are playing the same expansion on steam it should work fine i'd think.
Sure, I guess I can try to chat up some random player. Is the basic approach to what I'm trying right though?
1. All of you launch SS from steam
2. All go to online MP
3. Host presses create game with pw. After that, a map is selected and the host sees himself in the typical lobby screen w/ game rules, race selection, etc. Host opens up enough slots for players and observers to join
4. Host notifies the others that it's up w/ pw
5. Others press Join Game and look for matching lobby name(refreshes may be needed). Once found, they each select the lobby, press join game, enter the pw and then they'll (hopefully) get in.
As in, Multiplayer - Online - Room (any) - join game -> I see lobbies.
How do you see what version of the game you have? I just installed what steam gave me, what are these extra patches/versions?
What solved it for us was
Steam -> Warhammer 40k -> Right Click -> Properties -> Set Launch Options -> The field must be empty
They could probably also be the same for both players and online might work, but I can say that with empty / no launch options coop works fine.
Ok so i did install reshade but could it really be the reason for that to happen? i mean i can use it in most online games no problem
-Does it work in vanilla version ? If no , try to reinstall SS or try a cach integrity check.
If yes , then its the mods that make the mess.
Mods must be exact same version for each player.
