Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Mods for the Single Player Campaign?
I have a few mods, but all of them disable the Campaign. I'm mainly looking for mods that add new units to the races, rebalance a few things, and/or just improve the gameplay and campaing in general.

I really like the Enhanced mod, it adds new units, honor guards, improved ai (iirc) and lets your units gain xp/level up and and some other stuff. It´s a lot like Annihilation mod for Dark Crusade. It made the campaign a lot more enjoyable for me.
I think Titanium Wars mod and Eternal Confrontation mod also works with campaign but I haven´t tried them myself.
Hope you find what you´re looking for :)

I'll try Enhanced first, thank ya.

Yes titanium wars works with campaign, also honor guard is reworked to get proper squads instead of single units like space marines have in vanilla campaign.
Strongholds contain many of the new units added by the mod, so when you conquer the sister stronghold, expect some inquisitorial support for the AI for example or ork battle fortresses and Grot Stompas in ork stronghold just to name a few.
Each race (except Dark Eldar they just got 1 super heavy high tier vehicle added and some tweaks) has much new units added up to warhound titans, squad and vehicle cap doubled.
Titanium Wars is even more fun in Dark Crusade Campaign, because it makes the stronghold very difficult in a good way, but Titanium Wars in Soulstorn is fun too, just a tiny bit easier than in Dark Crusade.

do you have a link to downoald the mod? I can't find an active link to install it

TW is having issues, but you can grab the files needed from the yadi link below. If your lucky, you'll be able to just click file download and not have to install anything. The forums link explains why they removed themselves from Modb. Just have to turn on google auto-translate in google chrome. Least that's what I did.

I downloaded TW last month of ModDB just fine IIRC? Apparently there was some drama between the Tyranid mod authors and the TW guy but whatever, whocare.

Campaign is fun with the new content but the AI becomes really annoying and unbalanced (even more imbalanced than vanilla campaign lol). Especially the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1v2 you have to do on strength 6 or higher provinces. Ork stronghold is easy but Witch Hunters stronghold is extremely hard triple stacking a land raider army every 20 minutes.

Also Tau is incomplete and a pain in the ass to campaign as. No titan unit except just the same Warhound (lol) the Imperial and Chaos factions get. No Riptide or Manta, sadly.

Enhanced seems boring? I wish Ultimate Apocalypse was campaign compatible.

For minor changes, you can also try Unification for the Campaign. It adds:
1] Bigger scale vehicles.
2] Nasty/improved AI for more challenging battles.
3] Tons of fixes and updates (not only for the Campaign).
4] Unit shadows.

.. But no new units.

Alternatively, you can play the Stronghold missions (from both DC and Soulstorm AND some more), with the Strongholds mod.
Both DC and SS campaigns were not THAT good, but the Race Stronghold missions were excellent.
But the most important aspect is that you can play those missions, with ANY race!!! Specifically:
- Adeptus Mechanicus Explorators
- Black Templars
- Blood Angels
- Chaos Daemons
- Daemon Hunters
- Dark Angels
- Emperor's Children
- Harlequins
- Khorne Berzerkers
- Legion of the Damned
- Night Lords
- Praetorian Guard
- Renegade Guard
- Salamanders
- Space Wolves
- Steel Legion
- Thousand Sons
- Vostroyan Firstborn
- Witch Hunters
And all these are NEW RACES.. Not simply some "new units" added in the existing Vanilla races...

I hope this helped.

Thank you for this link. I've had a look at that forum post a number of times in the past and always decided that I didn't have enough brain cells at the time to go through the procedure. Dropping the yadi link in conjunction with it has significantly simplified the process. It's much appreciated.

I don't know that I've heard of Unification before, honestly. Having said that, now that I AM aware of it, I expect I'll be checking it out in the near future. I remember years ago, wishing that many of the custom race mods to represent the unique aspects of the various armies could be played side-by-side. Now that I see there IS indeed a mod to make that possible, I'll be looking into it for sure.

(And having said that, I'm also fully aware that none of the above are intended to work alongside TW)

Unfortunately unification has always been overshadowed by UA. Like to think that whilst UA goes upwards in terms of stuff, tech/power, we go sideways with new armies that generally all play differently. Plus all the cool stuff like survival that gambit has made.

We are a small team so whilst some races need revisiting, we're still getting there whilst making new things, like the imperial fists!

You could play random Vs random for years!
Man, you're still at it, Fuggles? I've been a fan of many of the projects you've worked on in the past. It does my shriveled old heart good to see you're still pumping out quality content for the community. Thank you, my dude.

Edit: I'm downloading race mods like mad, but I do have to ask if any of you incredibly knowledgeable gents would know how to get a hold of the Steel Legion mod these days. I realize nobody here is the original author of the mod, but since Unification does include a direct link to the mod and a required patch to make it compatible, I thought I might try. The download appears to be nonfunctional on moddb, and I can't find it for Soulstorm elsewhere. Any words of advice?

Yes, check my link above, that article has links to all downloads. That said, may need a new link to the updated version at some point down the line, but that's minor patches. I just checked the link on my phone so definitely works.

Also thanks for the kind words! Somehow still here, somehow still going. I work with a better team than I could ever have dreamed of or asked for, who make incredible things. Big projects coming down the line, just slowly.

Ah, I'll have to give it another try later tonight, then. Like I said, I gave it a try and moddb kept throwing errors at me every time I attempted to dl it.

In any case, mad respect to you for all your hard work and dedication-- and to your team as well, of course. I haven't had a huge amount of time to dig into all the custom content, but I'm loving the hour or so that I did get to play.

Gonna have to reassess what I'm likely to play and maybe uninstall some games I'd had sitting around for a rainy day; got a bit carried away, you see. Still, well worth it, I'm sure.

Definitely worth it - Pass on the knowledge, tell people about us!
I've not got too many to tell, these days, but I'll do what I can to spread the word.

Also: it appears that the link referenced earlier is still good, I just managed to find the wrong one with my single brain cell. All solved now.

I tried Titanium Wars sometime ago, and again yesterday with the latest version I could fnd. It works well for quick battle, but when I try a campaign, the first battle works well... except that just after I win the battle, the game freezes and then CTD. Making it unplayable.
Is the campaign really working for you? is there something to do during install to fix this?
