Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Howling banshees are overpowered (On insane AI)
Too bad this game will never get a balance patch for them :(

EDIT: This post was made before I found out that Insane difficulty AI gain 40% more resources at the start of a game, effectively meaning that I am unable to deal with the massive swarm they send my way.

EDIT 2: Changed the title. I felt as though it was clickbait. Sorry about that.

In multiplayer? They are actually sub-par, only used against Necrons in competitive play.

Dark Reapers, though...

Yeah nevermind. I was playing against Insane difficulty AIs that get stat boosts. Didn't realise this until I looked it up.
Actually they don't. In the campaing they do, but the skirmish AI just plays at the best of it's ability + gets a resource gain boost.

"If there aren't enough players to fill out a map, or if the Skirmish game mode is played, AI players are added to fill in the remaining slots. The different difficulty levels of the AI are largely dependent on resource rate differences, although Easy and, to a lesser extent, Normal also suffer from reduced intelligence as well. In Dark Crusade, the AI also receives an extra 100 power at the start of the match, and its starting resources are modified by its difficulty income modifier. For example, an Insane AI starts with 1400 280 instead of a human's 1000 100 . The AI does not get extra power and does not get different starting resources depending on its difficulty level in Soulstorm. AI difficulty levels do not affect the resource income of other players when Resource Sharing is turned on. Resource bonuses from generator and Listening Post completion remain unaffected by difficulty modifiers. The Necron time bonus is also unaffected.

Easy: The AI receives only 30% resources.
Normal: The AI receives only 80% resources.
Hard: The AI has the same resource rate as a human player.
Harder: The AI receives 20% extra resources.
Insane: The AI receives 40% extra resources."

its*, and that doesn't explain why they have literally double health. It does explain why they come in droves and are literally unstoppable, but they DEFINITELY have more health.

Again, in the Single-Player Campaign, the AI's health multiplier is affected. In Single-Map skirmish mode, the AI's health is *not* affected.

Unless you're playing with mods, of course.

No mods, purely vanilla SS. Their health is definitely higher, though. That's a fact.
Very simple

And they basically start the game with those upgrades on Insane.

Depends on the circumstances. A good player will probably be able to handle them.

I can't think of any game, past or present, that was balanced on the basis of "Insane" difficulty. Play on a lower difficulty setting so the AI doesn't insta-buy every single upgrade available to it.

I wasn't aware of these changes until after I made the post.

Flayed Ones are prolly the best anti melee unit in the game both because they do great damage while knocking back PLUS they have an immense fear radius that will force those around them to lose their morale and become uselsss. Rush a summoning core while spamming gens and then get some flayed ones. They are also cheaper to reinforce than normal warriors as well.
