Apocalypse: How to win against Necrons with SM?
I am enjoyng this mod very much,but i found one weird thing about the Necrons.
If i set a 1Vs1 with my side as SM and the AI Necrons on normal there is basically no game.
The AI won't build units at all.
So i decided to raise the level and play several games on hard,and here things change drastically.
The Necrons in a few minutes produce lot's of units and no matter what,they are basically almost unkillable.
I tried the quick way,produce as many Adeptus Astartes and throw them to the enemy base but even at their low the SM are no match for them.
I tried the attendance tactic as well,to tier up the base and the quality of the units and then assault them,but still i get destroyed by them.
To be honest i find a bad balance with the Necrons in this mod,way to much difference between the semi-dead AI in normal and the super steroid pumped AI in hard.
Anyway i wanted to ask you if you have any specific way to deferat Necrons as Space Marines.

I think that's your problem. In UA the difference in unit quality is much greater, so focusing on upgrading your base an economy is much more important. Try to control as much points as you can, and lock them down with turrets. The AI doesn't really optimize his army late game, so if you can get to tier 4 with a stable economy you'll easily win.

i think your main issue is the fact all necrons count as Heavy Infantry this means the best thing for dealing with the infantry early game is to get the Plasma Rifle upgrade because it does extra damage to heavy inf i have also been told that snipers work well for picking off a few at range before they close and that the assualt marines are good at tying them up long enough that your ranged SMs can kill them before you take heavy losses after that the next focus is getting turrets and whirlwinds up as fast as possible cause arty is king against the necrons because they are slow this adds extra time for ranged units to rip into the lines while they cant even get close the next thing is with your armor focus less on flamers and cannons and more on las and plasma weapons

if you can last long enough to get that far it becomes an economy game of who can get the heavy armor out fastest and get your land raiders and terminators on the ground before they get a monolith and massed armor

i my self dont play the SM faction much im a Guardsmen myself so if any real hardcore SM guys get in here please correct anything i might have missed but i did note that as the guard against the necrons and for of long ranged explosive from artillery style weapons (hand held grenade launchers, basalisks, medusas and earthshakers) are great against necron infantry and to some extent even the skimmers they deploy just cause the have massive range and splash on their side over the necron infantry i can litteraly walk my squad of guardsmen with nade luanchers in a circle around the outside of the crons fire range and pummel them with fire while taking no return fire so i would say the main thing to focus on is range and plasma

Plasma, plasma and some more plasma to be sure. For real, plasma weaponry melts the skelly ♥♥♥♥♥

haha thanks for backing up my point but plasma is always a good upgrade unless your fighting orks guard or nids then flamers will typically win out

joking aside, I just tried a game on hard with SM against Necrons and it was a really easy win (I actually lost only 14 unists, most of them scouts, against 141 cons). You only need to keep a good pressure at the start. Their Commander is a fearsome unit but he can't be in two places, so just dance around him with the scouts and assault marines while you capture the strategic points. Once you have more than half of the map under control spam plasma (give plasma weapons to sargeants too) and you should hold their first real counterattack with no issue. If you manage to hold you have won the game, you'll be so ahead economically that the poor Cons won't be able to do much. Tech up ad finish them. They're really weak early game, so punish them early rather than later.

I have yet to understand what's good against orks. I'd say heavy bolters, but they have so many different kind on infantry that it's hard to choose.

@OP if you still have trouble w/ them let me know. It is basically as malu said to rush them(as someone who likes playing necrons in ua(w/salcols) mp i'd know), but if you need more info on it either someone from discord(https://discord.gg/UnCHXUP) can help or i can send a replay(which would be in salcols tho, so you'd need to install that patch first).
