Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

How many soldiers does the imperium of man have?
Hey. This is just a nerd question. Just wanted to know how much men the imperium has to spend. I'm not that into the lore of warhammer really but it'd be cool to know stuff like this. I read online somewhere that the space marines have 1000 chapters with 1000 marines in each so thats 1 million. I'm wanting to know how much the imperial guard and all the others in the imperium have. I'm mostly interested in how much infantry they have but if someone could answer how much artillery, navy, vehicles etc, that would be cool.

Clones: 691,200,000

Droids: 1 quintillion

Rebels: around 100 million

Empire: 925 million on starships alone probably a few billion occupied on planets

First order: 12 million

This is only the most well known armies not counting others such as the geonosian army, old republic, old droid army (sith army), etc. Not that numbers matter too much. The empire with the deathstar and over 25000 star destroyers should be a big enough navy for all 5 of these armies yet it isn't.

Not to mention the thousands of highly trained sith, jedi, and bounty hunters there are if we were to include these types of things.
wtf bro? they talk about 40k warhammer not star war hahaha

The game is how old ? ( I have forgotten )

You could say that in this case the Community Discussion as a whole , and in general , is a necro. :)

1.5 million space marines 11 trillion guardsmen and 220 trillion plantary defense forces

sadly, as a fan of both franchises, I'm afraid star wars has next to no chance against 40K in more or less any way if 40K is actually investing in the battle, just as an example, a star destroyer averages around 1600m with a crew of ~48,000, this is a star wars capital ship by any metric, the Imperium's ship of the line (battleship) averages between 6,000 to 8,000m with a crew of ~3,000,000 many of whom have born and died on said ship, imperial battleships have weaponry ranging from lance batteries, which are capable of slicing through the crust of planets very easily, to Nova cannons which accelerates projectiles 50m in diameter to the speed of light to crash into the enemy, this means that the standard imperium ship would do to a SW navy what happened at the end of the last jedi on every engagement, this is just one example of how horrifically outclassed SW is in terms of numbers when fighting against the imperium

i heard that before the year 30,000, the census deemed mankind uncountable.

so there's that.
Uncountable isnt a number. There is always a limit.

Issue being that that the estimates range from a conservative 4-8 quadrillion (thats 4,000,000,000,000,000-8,000,000,000,000,000) to 1.5 quintillion (1,500,000,000,000,000,000) essentially making any attempt to accurately censure them impossible

uncountable is also just a logistical issue
with communication being both dangerous and unreliable while having little to no way to doublecheck the message
and travel to even count before you communicate being equally dangerous along with slow
with a minor chance of time travel
any counting your going to do will end up changed by the time you have collected and added up all the numbers
making the actual number actually uncountable

and to answer your actual question, an educated guess on the numbers on guardsmen (considering the 10% tithe per planet so this number could vary massively) sets it at ~8,000,000,000 infantry but lets be reasonable and, for the sake of simplicity, say the imperium is only sending a crusade force (I'm using the Achilus crusade against the T'au here for reference), which is a coalition of a few regiments from multiple different worlds with Space Marine support, that would give them >1,000 ships, with their capital ship being the equivalent of a death star but more streamlined, capable of firing overwatch and (relatively) swift maneuvring (a favoured imperium naval tactic being ramming when broadsides don't work) ~6,000,000,000 guardsmen, ~2000 "standard" space marines with accompanying specialised forces like the Grey Knights, a group of Uber Psykers who specialise in taking out daemonic and psychic threats and would doubtless try to purge the force users (least of them having abilities like limited telepathy and imbuing their weapons with unerring accuracy) and ~5 titans, giant bipedal war machines which range from the size of at AT-AT to the size of a mountain (GW is very vague about the sizes unfortunately). This was a relatively small crusade but would probs be the kind of thing the imperium of man would initially send against the SW universe, hope this helps :)

also travel can quite literally send you backwards or forwards in time messing things up even more

47 guardsmen in total.

how many troops can each army on earth train in a day add that together and note that we are not really in large scale space age and we have abolished conscription

then multiply that by how many plannets are in control by the imperiem of man and thats the rough troop production for 1 day run that number through how long your war is going for and thats your rough calculations for genral infantry not including the elite forces of the space marines or their equal or greater

(and for wh40k vs starwars the jedi got order 66'd so its cannon that the jedi got pushed to neer extinct by non force wielding clones im sure wh40k has a lot of non force wielders that could do that job and death star thats just 1 plannet buster wh40k has lots and when all sides have them you must find ways to counter or wreck em before they can be used which is why ground conflicts are still so common)
