they kinda leak, little bits of their soul is slowly seeping out of them thats why they need to feed on souls and pain
they can torture a 100humans and be fine, they can be next to one of their own in the middle of combat and consume the soul as it leaves the body and be fine
or they can carry a few soulstones with them like a lunchbox and be sure that they will be fine for a long time
dark eldar dont care if they feed slaanesh, as long as they dont personally get eaten its not their problem
it wont be fed to slaanesh any faster, they dont leak quicker if their full
Note to self:
Give the imperium the location of commorath, the cities layout and how to get there.
Or meaby i shoud give it to chaos.
Slaanesh worshipers would be more tempted but i doubt anything short the imperium can destroy the dark eldar.
I hate them.
That makes them a well written faction.
Otherwise i would feel nothing for them.
and without magnus sitting on the golden trone finding the path along the webway is even less likely
you would have a better chanse giving them the location of the black library
and them then finding the map in there
and then then if they would invade they would first end up in the undercity where al the eldar that failed to keep themselves fed are dumped, their starvation turning them into bilions of bloodthirsty gouls
before the actual military even gets involved the imperium would be pushed back
the city is like a planetsized hive across multiple dimensions
not a fun thing to invade
and while the numbers of craftworld eldar are low, the numbers in commorath cant be counted
I honestly think there are only a few things that can destroy commorath.
1: slaanesh finds a way in(i am hoping this will happen)
2: the imperium send a few billion troops at it and destroy it at considerable losses.
3: a sector wide waagh.
4: the silent kings force's.
5: the tyranids.
The dark eldar are still eldar.
I know that taking out a single craftworld take's crusade level force's and craftworld are useally continate size not planet size.
I dont see commarth getting destroyed but it would sure be a fun story.
You are (by the way) misinformed.
1: commorath is in the webway.
All an enemy would need is a nearby enterance.
Ofcourse once's commorath falls the eldar craftworld's are next......as getting imperial scum out of the webway is alot harder.
2: I am sure commorath has alot of dark eldar(they have to with all the raping, cloning, etc)
They are not beyond counting(if they where they would have to capture the entire galaxie to stave of slaanesh for a few seconds....They cant become more numberless then there prey or they would run out of food)
And none dark eldar arent that loyal.
3: The dark eldar are basicly just criminal eldar.
No real army to speak of.
Just a bunch of backstabbing jackasses picking on the weak.
An well planed invasion can destroy commorath.
Remember eldar souls are tasty.
If during the fight the webway collapses it would solve two problems in one stone.
It ist a mather of can commarth be destroyed?
It is a mather of do we have the means to destroy it without destroying ourself?
And that answer is no.
Personal i would lure a waagh inside commarth(a distraction) a few space marine chapters(more distractions) and then place bombs to destroy the webway(slaanesh demons would remove the dark eldar once's and for all)
-the imperium often crushes planetcovering cities, but when i sayd planetsized i meant the entire planet, not just the surface, the entire thing hollowed out filed with slums and covered instratosphere reaching towers
and they usually use orbital bombardment to achieve that, to do that they would need to be in the warp and shoot trough the barrier of the webway to do that
you cant aim while in the warp, that would mindf.u.c.k your gunners
1. is happening, the webway is old and breaking
2.not gonna happen, the golden throne is just a life support systen now, its guidens system for the webway is broken, and magnus isnt going to sit in it to make it work again
3. the orks dont have a golden throne, so... no
4.possibly, but the webway rejects them so they cant really stay in there for long enough to do an actual assault, its an old system of the aintients, but the webway is old and breaking so maybe
5.i would like to think yes but they get retconned everytime they achieve something
a zoantrope also ate a large part of the eldar god of death but it still woke up in one piece who know wat GW will allow
-again, not continent covering, the entire planet hollowed out and filed with slums covered in stratosphere reaching towers surrounded by minor realms and another half of it extra in another dimension
it will happen eventually it is crumpling, entire continent sized pieces have shattered and fallen into the warp
-im not i just oversimplified matters
1.is a ship flying trough the warp in the warp or is it not in the warp because its inside its gellerfield?
just semantics but yes its in the webway, which is in the warp and shares many of its properties, which is why people will never find their way in there, like i sayd, golden throne or a map out of the black library... both not gonna happen
2.dark eldar dont just do a lot of cloning, they also do a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
and those who are seen as unworthy get trown into the slums where they prey apon eachother
the ones who actually raid realspace are actually all of the higher class, the dregs of society is numberless but also meaningless until you attack commorath
eldar get dangerous if treatened
yes they are scum, but attacking their home is the only thing that will make them put their differences aside and kik the everliving ♥♥♥♥ out of... everything, the imperial guard would be outnumbered, and thats not even counting the starved gouls
3.dark eldar are not the corsairs, the pirate princes are an entirely different sect of eldar
are private armies still armies?
the dark eldar lords have armies and the ruler (forgot his name, vect i think) has an army large enough to keep all the other armies under his tumb even if they where to band together
and while that still makes them a bunsh of jackasses pissing on the weak
there are a lot of jackasses with their own rather large armies, now motivate them to cooperate by treatening their home... not a good plan
the Deldar arnt a treat currently, but motivate them and they can be
and yes if the webway would collapse during the fight it would solve a lot of things
thats why Vect has them primed to destroy and strong gates to block off the backlash
he has flouded entire segments in the warp before, and if he actually thought he would lose he would do it again
the dude is the ruler of commorath, he doest just have a plan B he has a plan Z probably more, he needs to if he wants to stay in power
or just stay alive
you are right on the answer, it will collapse in due time, but humanity isnt capable of doing it
you plan still requires people to walk trough the webway, the chanse that a human finds his way trough the webway is about as likely as the chanse that a human strips off his clothes dives into a warp gate and swims into the throneroom on terra and hugs the emperor
no.gonna.happen
either the golden throne needs to be fixed
or a harlequin gives a map and humans actually trust it instead of just burning it as the lectitio divinatus tells them too
both are not gonna happen
edit: damn my english is bad, so bad i cant even begin improving it, sorry
The web way:

Imperial invasion of planets:

Hive cities:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuypOzJvz6k
Commarath is a well defend city.
It destruction would require centuries of planing, carefull prepearation and alot of firepower.
But to take real life for example:
Troy fell.
Rome fell.
It isnt a question of can we destroy commarath.
It is a question of can we afford it.
From my point of view:
The highest chance to succesfull destroying commarath is to have an eldar farseer lure ork waagh's, space marine chapter fleet's, etc.
Into commarath to distract the dark eldar from the bombs he would be planting.
Destroy the wall's of the webway would destroy commarath.
I would suggestion assasinating vect and watch the power strugle destroy the dark eldar but vect is like stalin.
Assasinations dont work against him.
humans cannot, and i mean in any way watsoever, find commorath
if troy was never found it would not even have needed a wall and it would also never have fallen
you can not compare those
humans cannot navigate the webway
that was the entire reason the emperor abbandoned the crusade and ♥♥♥♥ started hitting the fan, spattering all over the place, the walls getting covered and everything smelling a little worse
he almost sucseeded, but he didnt
Makes you wander how the imperium didnt manage to get that information out of there captive eldar.
After all the imperium only need to get into the webway(not commarath).
Once inside the can start conquering it(expendable troops over the courses of thousent of years).
torturing info out of eldar farseers
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
and no they do not only need to get into the webway
that is like saying the only thing you need to find the exit of a maze is find the entrance
you do realize that if you take a wrong turn in the webway you will walk into turning into a baby then crawl into nothing
the webway is the biggest most incomprehensible maze there is in 40k (remember it spans the entire galaxy, and possibly more, its not like they can hold hands and eventually cover the entire webway with a long chain of guardsman)
(not really dark eldar have built worse for the lols, tzeensh has too, but for something that has not been specifically built to be a incomprehensible maze it is)
ahzek has found his way in multiple times and still has yet to find his way into the black library
edit:
and even if they could torture info on the entrance of the webway out of eldar
the roads into the webway arnt constant
the webway is not a solid road, it changes with the tides of the warp as it gets stretched and twisted (it would get twisted by realspace too but realspace tends to be more stable)
Breaking a gaurdian for example woudnt be as hard and all eldar know how to get into a webway.
And yes i know that the webway itself is a constantly shifting maze but to use your own example:
They dont need to find the exist of the maze.
They just need a way in as the enterence's dont move.
Remember the imperium(and other swarm factions) can afford to lose entire planets worth of people and not give a damm.
Beside the question is how it is possible the imperium isnt mass invading the webway gate.
I mean taking over the webway would increase there mobility and remove there reliance of warp travel.
The only reason i can think of is that the imperium doesnt know of the webway(execpt for a few inqusitors)
Anyway now i know how dark eldar will threat soulstones i want to kill them even more.
So thanks for that.
they CAN NOT feel emotion, there is nothing to treaten, you cannot torture info out of them
-and eldar sivvys dont have that info, they know how to use it and get in inside the craftworld yes, but the webway inside a craftworld protected by the infinity circuit and the webway outside that you need for interstellar travel are two very different things
-finding the entrance doesnt mean anything, even if they congalined troops in there, time and distance have very little meaning there, and while the imps have a lot of guardsman they dont have enough to congaline the entire galaxy from one end to the other back and forth across multiple dimensions even nids cant do that... yet
-and even if they get lucky and find it, by the time a significant forse is sent the paths will have changed making all that effort useless
remember, if you take a wrong turn along the webway you might bump into yourself
time and space do not follow the rules of realspace
-HUMANS CANNOT NAVIGATE THE WEBWAY!!!
the ENTIRE reason the emperor abbandoned the crusade is to solve that riddle
he planned on binding magnus to the golden trone and us his rediculous psychic power to force the webway to make sense, to stop shifting, to be usable by humans
he failed... massively
the golden throne is broken and the unique tech that would make it work was fried
there is no way at al that humans currently can use the webway except for some highly psychic books in the black library
and those do a lot of corrupting
and those are not left out of the library because that would mean ahzek could find it
remember ahzek has deamons, there is no bigger swarm army that could congaline its way around the webway especially when fed by open breaches to the warp, and there are a lot of holes in the webway
but he still has not been able to find the black library
and lastly there is the laughing god that likes to mess with things
and it doesnt mind the dark eldar being who they are
Plot emperor anoy's me.
Still magus sitting on the golden throne all the time?
Woudnt he get bored?
endless torture for his son, praise the emperor :/
read "the burning of prospero" its a great book, he is being kindof an emo in it, but still a good book even if it doesnt give the best representation of Magnus
probably should also read "a thousand sons" since it starts that part of the story
just generally the horus heresy novels are great and explain a lot about why humanity is as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as it is
I think that the DE-Eldar hate is mostly old lore, leftovers from WH Fantasy Druchii who hated their Asur couisins more than anyone else in the world. The DE and CE don't like each other now either, but I feel its like having uneasy relations between crazy scumbag/prude ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cousins. They don't like eachother that much, but are certanly in better relations with eachother than with the local cockroach colony, which is what the Eldar think the humans pretty much are.
Commorragh is not only a city, it is made out of giant chunks of the webway patched together. The entire population is made out of backstabbing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. While this means that the society itself isn't very stable, all of those in power are both very capable and easily replaced.
Asdrubael Vect is not some random mook, he is without a doubt the most capable person in the entire universe at this point. He is so old that he saw the Fall of the Eldar and birth of Slaanesh, and he is so manipulative and downright ingenious that he was able to stay in power.
On the one hand dark eldar are the most selfish race in existance and the only one without an excuees for being evil(there not corrupted by chaos, the arent engineer bioweapons, they didnt get screwed over by the C'tan. They made the choise to continue down the path that destroyed there empire and only modified to to protect themself against slaanesh)
On the other they seem to value eldar life above other life(same as all eldar).
I often see there relationship as the drug cartels(dark eldar) vs the police(craftworld eldar).
Sure both hate eatchother but there still human.
And given the slaanesh is pretty much worse then the most horrible of dark eldar(and that is saying something) i wasnt entirely sure if even the dark eldar would be willing to sacrific there craftworld kin.
But as Ashardalon pointed out:
They would do anything to save themself.
Understandable giving how eager we humans are to screw eatchother to better ourself.
