I think that the first 10 or so horus heresy books are the best lore + fiction in 40k. 1-3 are definately a must read though.
Also the short story "the last church", which is about the emprah and the completion of his conquest of terra.
Ok ... I have to ask ... is there really an Emperor or is his story made up for social control of the human population?
Im going to get the Horus Heresy for sure. It must be cool if they made the story into its own board game lol.
Sorry! Couldn't recall the quote myself so I went to the Warhammer Lexicanum. Kinda thought the quote sounded a bit off!
Hey ... I cheated ... now I know everything in 3 minutes. hmmm bit chute
gets the censor huh
For me at least, the gateway to this addiction of mine that is Warhammer 40K was the Blood Angels second Omnibus. Just saw it at a book store and thought it looked cool, frankly didn't really understand what was going on, but it was awesome enough for me to want more, so I bought all the Horus Heresy books, and spent many a hour on the Warhammer 40K wikis! The Horus Heresy books give backgroun on the universe that in my opinion is vital to fully understand what is going on, but once you have laid down that basic background, I recommend you go to a youtuber like ArchWarhammer. He's really great, fun to listen to, really gets deep into the subjects, and has made videos on a pretty large variety of things, and is actually how I really learned a lot of things about the universe of 40K.
And if you're looking for a bit of comedy to brighten up the grim dark future, there is a delightful series on youtube called If the Emperor had a text to speech device by Bruva Alfabusa.
a lot of stuff is debatable and some of the things he says is objectively wrong
but the 40k multiverse is very very big so everyone is wrong sometimes
even the emperor forgets stuff sometimes
"make no mistake" and the differences it has depending on culture
its unlikely they got the real book 10k years later, but its likely its the source of the cult
now you can just wonder in what condition the dragon is currently
