Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Earth vs????
how much of any 1 faction from wh40k could Earth handle in terms of military? forget space battles and bombed to ♥♥♥♥ from space. im talking land air and sea. 1000 space marines against every nations military working in concert? a fully outfitted imperial guard army? sounds like a stupid question but someoe else out there has prolly thought about it

Is there a "must read" book in the WH40K universe? I really am quite weak on my chapter lore.

I think that the first 10 or so horus heresy books are the best lore + fiction in 40k. 1-3 are definately a must read though.

Also the short story "the last church", which is about the emprah and the completion of his conquest of terra.

SPOILER ALERT:

Ok ... I have to ask ... is there really an Emperor or is his story made up for social control of the human population?
Im going to get the Horus Heresy for sure. It must be cool if they made the story into its own board game lol.

the emperor is real but he is no longer able to directly control human afairs so a lot of people end up corrupting his goals and beliefs. Like worshipping him as a god.

I believe they have with the 30k army lists for tabletop 40k. So you can take units that were aviable during the H but no longer avilbe in 40k

"To take a town, send a legionary. To take a city, send a squad. To take a world, send a company. To take a culture, send a Chapter." -Famous Ultramarine saying

Now this saying applies to the future. When people could actually put a dent in space marine armour. Not only are space marines really badass and powerful, they are also smart and tactical. I'm willing to bet that well equipped company, or maybe even a couple squads would be enough to take out the entirety of earth no swet, considering the fact we have very little weaponry capable of even hurting them.

And I do actually recall reading about a battle back during the Great Crusade where a space marine legion took a planet that was about the same tech era as our own. Let's just say it went terrible for the poor guys refusing to surrender to the space marines.

to take a SYSTEM, send a chapter. Get it right fool.

Sorry! Couldn't recall the quote myself so I went to the Warhammer Lexicanum. Kinda thought the quote sounded a bit off!

For me at least, the gateway to this addiction of mine that is Warhammer 40K was the Blood Angels second Omnibus. Just saw it at a book store and thought it looked cool, frankly didn't really understand what was going on, but it was awesome enough for me to want more, so I bought all the Horus Heresy books, and spent many a hour on the Warhammer 40K wikis! The Horus Heresy books give backgroun on the universe that in my opinion is vital to fully understand what is going on, but once you have laid down that basic background, I recommend you go to a youtuber like ArchWarhammer. He's really great, fun to listen to, really gets deep into the subjects, and has made videos on a pretty large variety of things, and is actually how I really learned a lot of things about the universe of 40K.

And if you're looking for a bit of comedy to brighten up the grim dark future, there is a delightful series on youtube called If the Emperor had a text to speech device by Bruva Alfabusa.

good series.
ArchWarhammer ... gotcha. The universe of 40k , to me , is kind of like that book 1984 by Orwell ... you hope its more of a warning of the possible future than a prophesy . Cant wait to dig in , thanks brothers
just dont take his word for gospel
a lot of stuff is debatable and some of the things he says is objectively wrong
but the 40k multiverse is very very big so everyone is wrong sometimes
even the emperor forgets stuff sometimes
"make no mistake" and the differences it has depending on culture
To be honest, the 40K universe is really complicated when you really start delving into it. That tends to happen when the universe in question just turned 30 years old and is still growing all the time, and it's frankly a bit of a mess, and the writers really leave a pretty generous amount of stuff up to the readers to decide what goes where and how, such as that cliffhanger at the end of the first Horus Heresy book based on Mars. You guys know the one, where the book mysteriously vanishes? God that ending haunts me, partially cause its so bloody out of the blue, but you know it was important cause the authors mentioned it, but then you don't find a single other mention of the book anywhere?

the cult of the silver dragon, or the void dragon
its unlikely they got the real book 10k years later, but its likely its the source of the cult
Wow, dang, that has actually resolved a burning question I've had for like a year now. Thank you for that revelation. In hindsight, I don't see how I didn't connect the dots. I mean, book about dragon set up in front of said dragon goes missing and badabing badaboom there's a cult about it now? Jeez, I feel kinda dumb now.
x) its a complicated galaxy its normal to overthink it sometimes
now you can just wonder in what condition the dragon is currently
