Master of Mushrooms Kinoko

I've spent so long searching the caves, so, so long. I've got two achievements left to do, one is called "Master of Mushrooms". I've travelled all the way back from the desert just before going through the ruins to confront the last boss in order to hand in this mushroom quest. Google tells me I need to speak to Kinoko in the caves about silver hats. However, I can't find Kinoko.
Please can anyone help tell/show me where Kinoko is? Or how to get the quest to be active on the map so that maybe it will give me a marker to where this npc is located?

Works like a charm. Give up, ask for help, keep searching forlornly... and I find him soon after.

For anyone else having the same issue, here is Kinoko's location, he's at pretty much the most northern part of the Caves map. You can actually run straight up to him from the entrance, no ice making or lilypads required!
