Finding Chests

Are the chests randomly spawned, or are they fixed spawns? And are the contents the same every time? I'm having a hard time finding them. I've been looking for fireflies at night, and no luck, and I've been running around for a couple hours now. Also, are there specific locations where they are more prevalent? I'm obviously doing something wrong here lol. And yes, I'm on the latest beta build.

Chests are not randomly placed, but nearly all of their contents are semi-random (for example we may code a chest to have 2 X rarity items in the categories a,b,c). Some may be fairly small boxes (no need to have a giant coffer for something that just contains a piece or two of jewelry) so hopefully that helps.

The chests seem to blend in with the surroundings, I had to almost trip over them to find them. They are not Bright red or anything. Which was neat...OMG a chest>

no but seriusly can we all team up and give the info of where the chest is like a picture or smt i will post on the artwork the chest i will find and will try to help otheres with it cause its feels like imposible task to find them i had to swim to far lands only to find nothing and its hard and time comsuming i even using my small flash light to press on W to be on crouser mode lol

There are a few people posting chest locations on discord, but generally I haven't seen anyone collect locations up ^^

Just on anyone from the community to pool together the information into one of Steam's guides. But yeah the spoilers channel in Discord has a few locations already.

Is there a clue to how many chests are in the game? Have come across eleven items of interest without really trying. As was previously mentioned, you kind of stumble across them in the course of exploring.

There's currently ~26 "containers" + couple of separate items ^^
