Castle Building itself.
Having finished the campaign entirely, except for the Becoming King part,

I am finding myself frustrated with the foundation laying of the castle itself... The smaller bits do not align with the larger ones well... And to top it off, the foundation cannot be 'pulled upwards' like on the image.

The largest ones showcase a solid foundation it seems, but I am unable to do so... And it is rather frustrating.

Larger rooms in a 2x2 grid, are also whacky looking... Am I missing something?

There is a video on Youtube that teaches you how to build your castle. Someone posted it in the discussions.

Easiest solution is just building a castle wall and make sure you have 50 pieces, then build a house within for keep itself, place throne inside. If throne don't respond try save and reload then click it or try move throne into one the castle round or square structural corners. It worked for me.

Can see how I did mine if it's any help to you. Not gonna lie isn't most spectacular thing, but mostly just put it together to finish quest and get achievement. Will play around with something better later if the options are expanded a bit more for castle building.

If it's any help, I've found the smaller bits of the foundation (the 3x2 size) will align perfectly with each other only in a single straight line, but the larger bits (the 3x3 size) will align off from them and also align with each other from there.

I think the smaller foundation pieces are for the castle wall, and the square ones are for the inner keep. But honestly, I'm having trouble with it too. I have a nice wall with a gate house, but inside that, I'm kind of stuck. Nothing fits quite right.

One probably with that would however be the top, since you as they will likely overlap each other with top fortifications, think it's why I seen some do it with a mix of the hexagon shaped and the squared ones.

I built mine only to find that I can't place tables/ chairs etc on the ground floor... anyone else have this problem? I used the foundations as the base, but they really don't work properly at all... may have to demolish and start again *sighs*.

yeah, there are alot of issues with castle building. I was able to do the wall portion just fine but an actual castle is a nightmare. I ended up making a normal house inside the walls like someone else had done. Like you said, the smaller pieces and wall sections play nicely together but thats about it.

I had the same issue. I wanted to make my guard tower's ground floor room into a guard room with a table & chairs. Check through all of the tables and chairs as there are a few that will work. Not all of them though. There's definitely some issue with placing furniture on castle foundations.

OK, thanks, will check all of the tables and chairs to see which ones work - like you, I was trying to build a guard room :)

Still, have now rebuilt much of the castle using house parts - they look quite good using the various rock colourings, shame I can't incorporate the tower into it, but may do that on the wall later!

Here are a few tricks I figured out. You can put paths and they go right into foundations even at an angle. You can see it in the corners of my keep below.

Also the interior even when using house pieces there are bugs. Like you can't place a foundation outside of a door arch if there is a door there. I had to destroy the door. place the foundation then put the door back. Balcony's were a pain. had to destroy lower doorway walls to get them to place right then afterwards put the arch door walls back in place.

There are most certainly some bugs and little quirks you have to work through to get certain things to work right. If they can iron out all these quirks and fine tune a few things this is a fun little time killer of a game. I enjoy building.

corner roofs.. You fall right through those when working on roofs just an fyi. That could use fixing for sure.

Carpets. I noticed the ones I used after a certain time get crooked and I have to fix them. As if they are on the dirty cycle like the renters. I don't like playing house keeper in my own castle. This is annoying and should be fixed.

Sharing a few screenies hope you all don't mind. Might inspire or help someone else.

Here is different steps for making connections with castle parts and create a real castle keep :

the basement is made with house foundations and you need to build castle parts around them
since a house part mesure the same as a castle part

Castle keep is basically a fortified house that means it's a simple house that was fortified with layers of stones ;)

in our case the stones layers will be the castle parts.

the definition of a castle accepted amongst academics is "a private fortified residence"

Okay here is a question, how do you put down the front gate? I have played with some of the castle blocks and know you need to put a foundation down before you put down any blocks but the gate still appears red when I try to put it down, what am I doing wrong??

I'm having many problems with becoming a king.

Building a castle is frustrating, can't build a second floor.Renting out Houses doesn't work even with making sure house is complete it still show house not ready. Throne doesn't respond and after reloading it respond again but can't move it, then reload then I can move it but only outside and not in Castle, then reload again Throne stop responding. Houses for that is build doesn't want to except the Rent sign. There is just so much frustration going on with foundations not working, I have reloaded my game a 100 times and nothing is going smooth.

Are you trying to put it on a foundation? I don't believe it can be place on one. I think it can only be ground level, with no foundation under it.

Sometimes I have difficulty adding a second floor if you aren't standing in the right place. Also, you only have to place walls on top of walls. If you want it to be more than three floors high, you have to add floors before you can go higher. There is a great video on Youtube that the Developers posted that shows the fundamentals of building a castle. It really helped me a lot! Good luck.
