The game isn't about the story mode, its about having fun in co-op with friends in endless mode and trying out different builds.
Exactly, also, you can spice up difficulty with Tarot Cards, and even have endless loops if you wanna see what difficulty you can handle.
Also there's some PvP, for a fun timekiller from time to time.
If you're a completionnist, you might want to unlock most if not all items. It really depends on what goals you set and how you want to enjoy the game.
If you have any doubts, just try the demo with your friends and let me know if you like it.
That is a too much.
But it's a genre centered around replayability, it's not a good idea to just beat and shelve them in general, you'd be missing out most of its fun.
I must be a little unfamiliar with the genre and the expectations. I do prefer a good long hours of story and content.
This is not a story-heavy game. It's a story about a group of adventurers collecting four runes to unlock an ancient Dwarf Fortress, and the "story" is you (and your friends, if playing coop) doing it. The dungeons and loot are a little different each time you play, and your progression (perks, equipment, etc.) are randomized. When you die, your run ends and the amount of gold you've collected is used to unlock new things (equipment, modifiers, allied AI characters) for future playthroughs. Equipment isn't great starting out, so it will usually take a little bit of time to unlock a few things that will weigh the odds in your favor.
Completing a (normal) playthrough takes about an hour, give or take, but you're meant to do it multiple times. The content is the gameplay, and even if the goal were to only be "beat every boss in the game once", it would probably take you more than 3-5 hours just based on random chance.
For a roguelite it is quite lite on content. Still a fun game, but nowhere as good as Rogue Legacy and I would only recommend buying it on a deep sale.
