You are awarded it at the start of the 2nd play - it might be that by getting it right first time, you aren't getting the achievements, due to when they unlock..?
Progress bar is the bar at the bottom. FF/RW also counts as clicking on this.
If you want to try the achievements - start the scenario and go to every room (see if the visit all rooms in mission works also), and don't do anything else until sequence restart, except tag some names - it will pop up unless there's a different problem.
Otherwise - it might be a steam issue, as they appear to be working...
// yep - I have them... I know some steam mods for other games will block achievements for all other games.
Unless it expects you to do them all in one sitting. As in if you start a new game but make a mistake it counts as a fail. I guess i'll try to a fresh new game again and see what happens.
So what youre saying is i should just let the entire video run completely and then answer it? I kind of just answer it within half way because i knew the answers.
Edit: I can confirm that after trying out this method the achievements are bugged,l dont even need to answer it or put in any names, let the video play through and it gives you the award.
Thanks for posting this, I was having the same problem as you and have now solved it the same way thanks to your comment.
The achievement doesn't state that you must solve the case.
Only not go straight in and solve it the first time, by not being able listen to every conversation and be everywhere in the scenario - it's kinda clever to give the first play through more intrigue (I think).
// also - if you read the description, it does say, "listen to all" not "listen to half then solve" which is - except for 1st and 2nd case - impossible to do without knowing exactly where to be at every moment, in one case - totally impossible, I think.
This is why devs cry and level designers feel 90% of their work is wasted on gamers.
I rewound small amounts on my first playthrough to check what I had just heard rather than waiting another 10 mins to go back and confirm. It's not "playing it wrong" if it works.
If a design doesn't work intuitively, the designer has failed in their job. That's not the case overall in Unheard, it's just that the achievements are specific but present no difficulty, and run counter to what you might expect of a second playthrough. I shouldn't be able to get an achievement for pressing play and walking off.
You sound like you belong on r/iamverysmart.
They aren't video cutscenes and I doubt that in general people are fast forwarding to skip stuff. They're rewinding and then forwarding over stuff they've already heard.
Those achievements say "passed the <x>th test". To pass a test is not the same thing as to take a test. Perhaps the developers meant something different, but as it is written, the standard meaning of that would indeed be that you have to correctly solve it.
Plus, if you don't have to correctly solve it, it's a rather stupid achievement. :)
^ This.
"Passed the first test without fast-forwarding and rewinding the audio or using the progress bar."
@Cap'n Saccade
When a .. i guess normal casual player that isnt as smart as you sees it, we see PASSED, we would automatically think to pass the stage, and in order to pass the stage we need to answer it, the first chapter forces us to watch the entire thing, but if we already know the answer before the video ends instead of watching the last 10 seconds we just answer and move along.
Personally i think its just worded incorrect in a way that the devs believed that it made sense, but it doesnt really. Kind of a pointless achievement if i can just leave the game running and come back 15mins later to an achievement without doing anything.
It's not about being impatient, you dont even have the option to skip any cutscenes, it forces you to watch it. Its the fact the achievement specifically says "PASSED" .. not "WATCHED" ..
if it said to "WATCH the first test without fast-forwarding and rewinding the audio or using the progress bar." Then i would sit and watch it.
So being that i already completed the game once whether it be with rewinding and pinpointing it and such, i know the answers, and therefore played a second playthrough to get the missing achievements. Who would think i have to sit throught another 15mins of video just to get an achievement that doesnt require you to even answer the questions but just let the video play through.
Im sorry that everyone is clearly not as appreciative as you to sit there and decipher exactly what the devs intended to know exactly what they meant.
Personally, it would be better if the achievement was for successfully answering the questions and moving on (or for a bit of challenge, get it right first time. i.e. not submit a wrong answer. Though this would be nulled by replaying and knowing).
