There is no such option in Man of Medan or any of the Dark Pictures games, you're confusing it with The Quarry it seems.
Solo; you play alone with the bot controlling the characters you don't.
Coop/Shared Story: you invite a friend and play both together online
Movie Night: couch coop, your friend is in the room with you and you assign characters to each and take turns playing. You can be up to 4 players.
Solo : You play alone and you miss a few chapters that are held hostages by the Curator's Cut, but you still see more than when you're playing Shared Story.
Movie Night : Couch co-op, you pass the controler around with your friends and see what they're doing contrary to online co-op where you can't always see what your partner is up to. As such, that's the mode where you miss the less chapters.
There's a trophy for finishing the game solo and playing online probably makes it easier to get all the trophies if you're trying to get them as fast as possible.
