Potential Plot hole (Massive Spoiler)
So I just finished my second play through of the game and despite what the critics say, I actually enjoyed the game very much. There's just one small thing about the game's story that doesn't make sense to me. Towards the end of the game it becomes apparent that what we thought was paranormal activity was in fact the results of an hallucinogenic bio-weapon.

So everything our characters went through was in their own minds. If that's the case why were there many moments where paranormal stuff happened outside of the character's field of view. Like the way the Sailor Girl Ghost would appear behind Conrad while he walked through certain corridors, he couldn't see the girl, she was behind him.

Same with a scene when Fliss is being escorted down a hall and we see a ghostly hand around the corner before she get's there. Paranormal things occurred when not being witnessed by a character is what I don't understand.

I'm pretty sure that stuff was there simply to build atmosphere and mess with players, not really part of the plot or anything. The curator also often appears in the background and plot wise he has no business being there :D
I'm sure it was for fun and to make the scenes more interesting. I get what you're saying, but I enjoyed the scenes (and the game overall), so I think it's a minor plot hole that is entirely forgivable. Just my 2 cents.

It's just a very old story trick called "the unreliable narrator". If you really have to make it work you can always imagine that we the observer also got a small piece of the hallucigenic gas when we played the game.

I've played and beaten this game at least four times now and two things that shocked me or made me question events in the game were

1. The ability to save junior it really doesn't seem like him living at all would change much of any thing in the story yet you can at least with Fliss,Brad together with the dive gear and second.

2. If Conrad escapes and gets to the lifeguard and returns to the ship at the end when he's clearly the only one on the ship the end game shows him getting killed by the pin-up girl but how no one else is on the ship so who or what was the pin-up girl Conrad sees at the end that kills him?

1. I think the purpose of that scene is not to get one of your character gets killed by Junior. So the fact that he is alive or not doesn't matter lol.

2. Just a guess that one of the guard on the boat is searching for Conrad because he was on the ship for too long and then in Conrad perspective he was hallucinating the guard as a ghost :v

It's just a hallucination. It doesn't have to be an actual person. When he's first hallucinating and seeing her earlier in the game (Glamour Girl), it's not a real person either. I think that ending isn't really supposed to be showing him getting killed, just that he's stuck on the ship going mad from the gas.

The question number 2.. If u already beaten games few times, then you would know that Danny isnt actually dead.... no matter how you killed him, either being drown or killed by Olson, he always come back alive and got hallucination and he either to kill military or got scared to death by super powered Olson.... So, the one conrad see is Danny who also being a victim to the gas

Because it's simply there to simulate the feeling the characters had. In his mind the "ghost" was behind him physically. Plus it's about gameplay at the end of the day. They can only be liberal to try and drive home the horror aspect and make it more believable.

The biggest inconsistency is the three fishermen. At the start they come across as being ghostly and supernatural. There's a flash of lightning and all of a sudden they're there standing in place but that's dropped rather quickly.

You've to take a few things with a grain of salt in the genre.

My thoughts are that just because the character couldn't see what was happening in that area (IE behind them, 20 ft in front of them around a corner) doesn't mean that they weren't perceiving it. Fliss may have not seen the hand, but she heard what sounded like a hand scraping against metal, so what we saw is what she was perceiving at the time. Conrad may not have seen the woman behind him, but he felt a presence there. Which is why he was nervous in the first place. So, I think the supernatural stuff that happened out of view, if you think about it that way, makes sense and also builds an atmosphere of horror. Just my thoughts. Could be completely different. Have you seen the epilogue where you don't call the military?
