HELLGATE: London

HELLGATE: London

Whoever owns the rights to this game is delusional
No amount of nostalgia would justify paying $13.00 for a game this old. Hellgate was mediocre at best over 15 years ago when it was new and unique. The FPS aspect was kinda terrible. Shame that it couldn't be more like Borderlands with some Diablo skills and melee, but they didn't have any idea how to do it yet. If a shooter is going to be boring, it better be difficult or fast paced like an arcade game, because the mix of slow and repetitive action-rpg with boring shooter is barely tolerable.

That said, I would like to play it again for a few hours just because I feel like it. But not for $9.09 when on sale. This is a 99 cent game, with an MSRP of $5.00 if we are going to be generous and buy it at full price. $2.50 a few times a year, and a dollar during the black friday and summer sale events.

Had this on my wishlist for quite a while, but it never drops below the ridiculous $9.09, and I don't know how you people can justify that. I didn't like it enough back in the day to even beat it, nevermind buy it again for more than $5.00.

Tell me you can't afford the asking price without telling me you can't afford the asking price.

Not the point. Anybody who plays video games can afford to throw away $9.

What I was saying, is that whoever priced this game is dreaming. Hellgate was a floundering disappointment when it came out. Nobody would pay even $5 for it, but at least that would be an understandable MSRP. Yes, the amount of people like me who have a thought and figure they'd grab Hellgate for a dollar, is basically nothing. But that's because most people who remember this game would consider it a waste of storage space. So it's just wishful thinking from whoever owns this IP. On paper Hellgate seems like a cool game that's worth more than $9, and they just have to hope people never heard of it and overpay for it without looking it up.

I found out that Hellgate is free thanks to another thread on this board:

Pretty hilarious that somebody is trying to sell it at all, considering that. If they had priced it at all within reason, I would have just paid for it without looking around.

well, i just paid 10E and i am happy, sorry to break it for you ;)

It's not free ; it's a "you must own your own copy of the retail game".
It does not have the base game but a multiplayer patch for it.
So you have to purchase the game (an almost inaccessible copy) to play it.

Im still getting a bunch of fun out of the game , but its outrages that they never fixed the 1fps bug in this version . It makes it unplayable even with the newest hardware without using unoffical mods .

Ah that's too bad. Probably for the best anyways, because I would have spent more time thinking about which class I'd want to play than actually playing it. On paper the game is cool, a decent action rpg. But the execution of it was too boring to complete a playthrough even 15 years ago. I can only imagine how little I could stand playing it today. But again, for a reasonable price I'd buy it anyway. Completely delusional to charge over $5 for a mediocre game this old.

I'd still shovel forth the kings bounty of at least $20 for this timeless classic.

I paid ~30 $ for physical box version shortly after original release, and I'd gladly pay 50 $ now if there were plans for regular new content, even if there were no plans to upgrade the graphics, new areas / mobs / quests would be enough.
In the state it is now, and most importantly zero hopes for new content, it's worth maybe 5 $.

2 Coffees are 15 bucks now on Starbucks
The minimum wage is like 13 to 15 $ depends on the state..

You want 0.99$

Well another thing is ...they might pay you as well in order to play the game hahah
