Any other games out there like Hellgate other than boderlands that I can think of. Until they fix the 1 FPS bug I rather play a clone of this game. hehe

How is Borderlands anything remotely like Hellgate?
Because it has loot?
Luux Nov 20, 2018 @ 11:16am
I know its not Demons and dark as this game, but The Division?
Also kinda post-apocalyptic in its own way, with third-person-shooter view going on :).

@Gameo, it reminds me of boderland due to the amount of loot that drops when you kill bosses lol. However, random generated levels, loot! and fun to play is what I'm looking for. @Luux, played the division and done everything in it but thanks for that suggestion though.

Random and loot huh.. hmmm
Torchlight 2 is basically a Diablo clone, fits the bill.

Grim Dawn isn't randomly generated but still decent, other such Diablo clones.

Warframe, Destiny 2. Kinda but not exactly.

If you're talking about looter shooters then Borderlands is rather comparable. Hellgate is more dungeon crawly though. They're not exactly like HG but Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, The Division, Destiny 2, Warframe, Torchlight 2, Shadow Warrior 2, Stalker series, Bloodlust Shadow Hunter, and not dark fantasy at all but Ni No Kuni 2 all have random loot and RPG elements. I think Vampire: The Masquerade has random loot too if I'm not mistaken, it's been awhiie.

People already listing some great options, here's another one: Kingdoms of Amalur. It was basically a big open world Action RPG with loot similar to Hellgate / Diablo. Was actually a pretty fun game, not the best ever but I enjoyed it enough. Shame the IP is basically as dead as Hellgate. It's gotta be dirt cheap these days, wish it had modding support. If you haven't played it give it a shot!

Amalur is a good one, really big game especially if you get the DLC. The combat is a lot of fun.

You'll be lucky if they fix the fps bug...this game is selling well, they better fix / support it respectfully as it deserves!

Nothing quit scratches the itch that Hellgate can . Even when I was playing Borderlands or the Division or Destiny 2 I was thinking of Hellgate. Even in its crappy current state I can’t stop playing it.

Amalur IP was picked up recently, can't remember what company picked it up but it was a larger company. I fully expect they will reboot the Amalur franchise since they bought it.

borderlands is a good answer.
yes, much less rpg elements, but a ton of loot and much more fun than hellgate.

I'd recommend bl2 but NOT the presequel, as jump-nogravity mechanics are really annoying.

I disagree. Butt stomping mechanic is fun and low grav combat is also fun particularly when you get some mods that give bonuses for attacking while in the air.

I wouldn't say BL is more fun than HGL as they both play very differently.

I love them both, BL def has better map design and is more varied than HGL, but again gameplay is much different. Depends what you are in the mood for really.

I see people have forgot about the amazing Van Helsing games. I would recommend getting the Final Cut version.

Also Vikings Wolves of Midgard is a fun game.

Sacred 1 and 2 are also amazing ARPGs everyone should own imo.

Then of course the Dungeon Siege Trilogy. DS 3 is pretty fun the older games are good but don't play quite as straight as ARPGs but are good.

Victor Vran is ok too just not a lot of loot in that game.
