Summoner because it's only single player and you get pets, and who doesn't like an army of pets?

True, but I think they've toned down the difficulty of the game to accomodate SP so you can probably get away with literally any class in solo play.

they reduced the xp req to level faster because it's SP mode....

with MP mode a 5 player party would get an insane bonus of like 750% xp boost or some ♥♥♥♥...since that's not possible they lowered the xp amount per level mid to end game

I'm a super fan of the Engineer Pet style build and if the ability "Aggressive Mode" is still something you can unlock in the game then definately going that route because it makes your drone god mode.

Summoner - Love the awesome pets.
Guardian - Something about my female character with awesome lightning sword and shield and armor. <hot> This is the class I completed the original HL on.
But, also played marksman and engineer and enjoyed both.
I will play multiple classes.

God i don't even remember what i first (and last) played in the game. I think i had a thing for the melee character (whatever had the slashing choices) and engineer... I'll rediscover it in a couple hours ;)
