My all time fav is :
1. Inhibitor Bots - at least 2 points for the 25% speed/movement debuff.
Rocket Bot - the full 7 points destroys groups.
2. Tactical Stance - just one point to open the way for Rapid Fire. However, it's a nice boost to your damage as long as you don't move.
Beacon - Since this is not the Multiplayer MMO version, just 2 points will do. Cast it on a Messenger, Elite, or the World Boss, and you'll get a nice damage boost for you and your bots/drone.
Rapid Fire - You'll be gimping yourself, if you don't take this skill. I don't go more than 5 points.
3. Construct Drone - Go 5 points for range, or the full 10 for tanking.
Gun Retrofit - There's little difference between the DPS of guns and swords, when it comes to the Drone. Only the Gun Drone will transfer its stat bonuses to the weapon. I put 5 points into this skill.
Repair Drone - A must have skill, if you're going to take a Drone. Just two points is enough for inbetween battle repair.
Armor Retrofit - The Drone's shields are a joke. This skill allows your Drone to equip a piece of armor, regardless of class type or restrictions. Chest armor for a Guardian is the best option, since it has the highest armor rating. I put 5 points for my Gun Drone, so go for the full 10 if it's tanking.
Master Engineer - Adds an armor bonus to your Drone, and on top of the Armor Retrofit (if you took it). I stay between 2 - 4 points, do to the dimishing returns.
4. Once all those points are plugged in, the rest will go where you see fit.
Of course, you don't need to follow my build to a tee. Some players prefer a tanking Drone, while others go full Bots and Spec Ops.
5. As for weapons, that's really up to the way you prefer to play.
If you wish to dual-wield pistols, you'll need to pump points into Stamina (Health). If you go with a rifle or other two-hand gun, you'll be pumping points into Accuracy and either Strength or Stamina as secondary requirement for your weapon.
I don't focus on a weapon's status affects, as I prefer having Crit Bonus/Crit Chance/Shield Overload or Penetration.
Fire Splash kills groups quickly, and Electricity/Shock stuns.... Yeah, I got nothing.
I only use the mods that up my weapon's damage type, range, add Crit Bonus/Chance, and/or shield Overload/Penetration.
6. Armor with pet bonus stats are your first priority. After that it's the best you can find/afford.
7. Good luck, and may the Gates to Hell fall before you!
No problem.
Like I said, it's my preferred way to play an Engineer. There's some wiggle room.
Let me post this. It's an old/updated guide but the information is still correct -

Nice.
I only used/touched the haste bot in Global. Maybe I'll take another look at it.
I have tried having the target recticle on the mob, the ground, everything.
It's not that simple. They hurt if they get hold of you. But done right with a few points in the skill tree for them then yeah. I did level 40.0 - 42.3 clearing the first maps of the 4 lower areas of stonehenge in under an hour and that's not even trying to go fast. I mopped up everything where you could just nuke the masses take the xp and move on much faster.
If you use one it sets a timer on the others so you cannot just drop all 3 in one go and leg it. But each one buffs an attribute of the others. Be it radius/damage/duration of the others.
Purely for grinding levels. It's not really a loot fest. Boring too...
I am not sure if the timer changes with levels but if you use one the other start at about 13sec then if you use one more the last one starts again at 13. So you can use one every 13 seconds or so. I think. Honestly shock and awe on it's own is enough to kill alot in one hit. I barely have anything in precision strike yet and already its carnage.
I found this odd build that looks interesting and talks about using a posiedon sniper with all cooldown reduction and CDR mods+ haste for solo.
That says you can cast them so fast that way its ridiculous.
