It would be helpful when you could name the map where you tried without success for 4 hours. Then, maybe someone could help.
What I recommend: After 3 or 4 maps of the campaign ("tutorial"), play an endless map on easy. ...
OK, may be your timing is suboptimal somehow.
If you build too many buildings at once e.g.
then it takes too long to finish them all, and you run short of money ...
Spend your crowns wisely, coz you will need them later (for buildings which need tools e.g.).
Be patient. Do not build more than one or two buildings at once.
Care for your ressources, and for the happiness of your ppl (food, religion, entertainment... )

A fine map to start is "Plateau", with setting "Military" (coz you have the DLC).
The critical thing - even on easy maps like this - is the start.
Bottleneck at start is money!
The path to money is the market.
Do not waste money (stones, crowns) for other things than market.
After having the market (and the trader), money flows in.
Care for water (low food you see instantly, low water, you have to look into needs).
Then, nothing can stop you. ...
1-Set your tax to about 5% to increase happiness and lower chance of strike
2-Build all of these if you dont have them: Forest Hut, Lumber Yard, Mine
3-Build your Marketplace
4-Focus on food now (Hunter Cabin, Fishing Yard)
5-Make money by selling animal skins, iron ore or bar, stone and planks
6-If you have bandits enabled, focus on military next
7-Have fun
