Important: Hotfix when the game doesn't start
We now released the hotfix for the public. No need anymore to use the beta channel.
We just hope it doesn't break anything for players who didn't have problems before.

Thank you for your patience!

Original posts:

Short story:
Please use our open beta channel to test an update we uploaded.
To do so:
Right click on the game -> properties -> "betas" tab -> enter beta access code: TownsmenBeta
Now you should be able to select "open_beta" in the above drop down field
Select that, close the properties popup -> the game should update
Please tell us if that fixed the problem for you!

Long story:
We found one PC that had the reported problem and wouldn't start the game.
We still don't know why but updating our OpenGl implementation fixed the problem on that PC
We don't know if this will help everyone and if this might have negative side effects. So with the weekend ahead we don't want to release it to everyone so we decided to use that beta channel and wait for your feedback.

Thanks for your help and your understanding!

To all users who still have problems starting the game after the hotfix. We don't know yet what is wrong and need your help.

Please try starting the game via the explorer and not in Steam because that might give an error message which helps us.
Also please send your system specs via Dxdiag (run (windows key+r) dxdiag, select save all information) and any error messages from starting the game to
support@handy-games.com
We hope we find a pattern to get closer to the root of the problem.

Thank you for your help and understanding!

Trying to get this working for the wife - still crashing out almost straight away - get a message about it saving, but can't screenshot it. A thought: the min. requirements are for a 2GHz processor, and hers is a 1.7 (quad core) but the min reqs for the old game were also 2GHz and that works perfectly on her laptop. If it's just a case of her laptop not being powerful enough to run it, then fair enough. DxDiag emailed for reference.

It should at least start on that machine. We will check if we can find a reason for that problem.

I got the stopped working message after I tried to run it. It gave me 3 files to look at:

C:\Users\Vienticus Prime\AppData\Local\Temp\WERFB1A.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Vienticus Prime\AppData\Local\Temp\WERFDC9.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Vienticus Prime\AppData\Local\Temp\WER172.tmp.mdmp
This is happening to me, I have tried the beta too and still cannot launch. is there some other work arounds I can try?

so i bought this yesterday on my birthday cus it looked fun i open it up and it just opens then closes instantly ive tried moving it from my ssd external to my internal, ive tried opining it as admin user ive even tried verifying the integrity i have also re installed the game nothing seems to be working and i really want to play this game but at this rate should i give up and refund the game?

Okay, so after hours of messing with the game I found a fix. Run it in compatibility mode under Windows 8, then once the game boots, change the resolution to "Window Mode". Now you can close the game and turn off compatibility mode. Once it boots up again, the window will be too large, just change it to borderless fullscreen and you can play! Hope this helps people!

This works for me. It crashed silently before, it would be nice to have some error logs, so we can report that to you :)
