Quick Thoughts

Wanted to throw some quick thoughts before sitting down and committing to a review. Enjoying the game thus far. I am a bit stuck trying to search everything in the lab in order to access the next floor; anyways, there are a few things I've noticed here and there that I like or don't like I thought I would mention.

The degree of skill and thought with how you prepare yourself (abilities, skills, party) and the things you can do is really nice. I don't think I've seen an rpg title go into that much detail as far as the individual player in a nice chunk of time. Same for the whole new game + if you decide to leave and or die. It might make it a bit repetitive if you have to go through the story at the same speed everytime (I don't know though because i've been stubborn about not starting over yet).

The music is nice but it bothers me that it's only sometimes there. I was almost convinced there wasn't any since there was nothing on the start menu and quite a while in the game.

Five letters seems pretty short for a name limit. I understand if that's the programmable limit on the names (since all the other names are less than five) but it took me a bit longer to decide on a name than it should have because of limitations.

Translation could use some work in some places; but it is understandable.

I like that items really do carry a useful weight but inventory managament is really hard. Between key cards, house keys, and sanity cures you run out of space really quickly. It also would be really neat if there was a way for you to either auto use or have the choice to use something when trying to do something instead of jumping through menus.

*Go to open door either opens if you have the right key or asks you if you would like to use key or whatever you have that can open it.
instead of
*Jump in menu, remember which character is carrying that object, use object.


I am enjoying the play thus far and don't regret the purchase. Now that I've hit the lab and it's started to get a bit more abomniation and spiritual my initial concerns of they just slapped Cthulhu on it are starting to go away. Hopefully I can figure out what I have to do soon. I have a worn down key card and am searching everywhere and anywhere to figure out how to find the missing numbers.

I understand the combination part but where do I need to make the herbicide? My combination ended up being B-D-A-E-C.

By God, I just can't find the code for the 5th floor, even after saving that girl.

The password for the 5th floor, is supposedly at the 2nd, just can't find where.

I'm still working on the bottles? The wall says A-White, B-Blue, C-Yellow, D-Green, and E-Red. The bottles on the table in reference to those colors are Blue, Green, White, Red, Yellow; so it should it be BDAEC right?

Ah nevermind. I didn't have the mother plant form.

Guide here said:
B+E+A+D+C (yours may be different)

Memo says: (yours may be different)
A = White
B = Blue
C = Yellow
D = Green
E = Red

Note right next to it, says that this order is all wrong and you should use the colors you see instead.

So, the REAL order for me is: (yours may be different)
A = Blue
B = Green
C = White
D = Red
E = Yellow

Now, you convert the guide colors to that
Guide: "B + E + A + D + C" (yours may be different)

Should instead be:
Real: A + D + C + B + E (yours may be different)

That's the real order.

Gotcha. Yeah I figured it out and just took down the plant. Mine was BEADC to start.

Right by the entrance of the 4st floor, easy, just 4 blocks up.

Yep done and done. On my way to 2nd to try to look now.

Ah yep. There it is.

Got the true ending on the first try, saved everyone, defeated the final boss.

But it seems I missed a few things, a book right before the final boss under a chair and I remember there was a secret entrance I couldn't open by the rear of the pool on the west side of the mansion.

EDIT: You can only get that book after completing the game, you can reload a save and it'll be there.

But there are 5 endings on this game, I don't know how to get the other 4.

Crossbow and pistol were useless for me.

Interesting. I didn't have quite enough items for sanity saving on the first attempt so I may run around this evening and try again. I don't know if I get to load up a previous save or have to start over either way I at least now how to make some progress. One of the endings is probably just leaving so that might eliminate one at least.
