Also I didnt know that playing the corsair was the story mode, started with a merchant and was lost during all the experience.
As for ship guns, anything under 24 lbs will do sgit damage so if you have a small ship focus on boarding a slightly larger ship. It's not very hard to get a sloop if you have a lugger, and then get a schooner and after that get a caravel which has lot of crew.
Btw before getting a ship, check your navigation skill to be sufficient (or hire a navigator from the tavern if there is one available)
Also... TRY to avoid fights. Just run man! If you can't win it you can't win it, this is not Skyrim, you can get outgunned very easily in land and in sea. On land, try to find chock points to fight enemies one by one.
But thats the thing! In naval combat im doing fine, I even managed to capture a gunpowder class 2 ship and for some reason it is sporting cannons with more lbs than the maximum allowed (took me a while!)
The fencing its kinda weird, I usually do little damage so I keep blocking and riposting (for 5 to 10 damage, it depends) a lot and keep firing my pistol for big damage. Gulping potions like crazy.
Im wondering if it has something to do with the fact that I set the experience gain to maximum, then im gaining levels but not developing my fencing at the same pace?
There are situations where you cant escape or the only resolution is to defeat an enemy (like when you are taken hostage and need to defeat two captors with a poker... had to do it all in slow motion and without a gun, holy crap that took forever.
But just now Its not a problem anymore, I completed the missions for the Dutch and Lucas gifted me a musket.... things just die after two shots.
I remember that once i was able to get a MAN O WAR (on the prévious game) why not you try to do the same here ?
Didnt see one of those ships yet, but im taking a vacation from the game. Its interesting but draining!
