Grey yarn in a snow level...really?

I only need ONE yarn in the first snow level...and of course it is grey. Help needed! I have spent close to an hour now looking,

If I remember correctly it was in the shadow of a smaller cat statue, near the front (when you first arrive). I am missing one too, do you know where the orange yarn in the level with the hut and ghost cats?

I had trouble with the orange one as well, but I doubt I can remember where I saw it. Easier to find that the grey one though.

Check the trees (upper parts).

I tried doing as you said, but I did not see a grey yarn - there might be more than one and I did get the one you mentioned.

Thank you kindly ^^ I tend to not go to the next area before one area is fully explored.

EDIT: So I spent another 30 minutes looking - still no grey yarn.

Ok maybe I overdid it a little with some yarns;)

In any case, just so we're on the same page: in the snow level there are 3 groups of cat statues. There are the "small ones" - these are the most numerous ones, about the size of a penguin or smaller. Then there are the "huge ones" - those are the three biggest ones in the very center of the map. And finally there are the "medium ones" - these are the statues in between the previous two groups in size. There's about 10 or so medium statues in that level, I think.

can be found inside the central "crater", right next to one of the medium cat statues

I hope this solves the issue for anyone else getting stuck on that one in the future ;)

Nope, did not help at all - what happened to the visual hints from the first game? Why did that nice feature go?

I searched anything I would consider a "crater" and still nothing. There are also some visual glitches in that same level.

The hint system from the previous game was largely disliked, so we left it out in this game. In levels such as this one, the hint system wouldn't be any more helpful than I am trying to be though, as the hints for both grey yarns would probably be "cat statue" or at best "small cat statue" for one and "medium cat statue" for the other.

In any case, maybe you're missing the other grey yarn and you just don't remember finding this one?

The spoilers below are VERY SPECIFIC. Please, whoever is reading this, if you want to try to find the yarn by yourself, don't read these.

One grey yarn is outside the crater, on one of the surrounding hills, touching one of the smaller statues. From the center of the crater it is in the direction where the shadows are pointing, more or less.

The second grey yarn is inside the crater (the lowered central area surrounded by black rock formations), right between one of the medium statues and the crater wall. It is also close to the largest of the 3 large cat statues.


If you still can't find it, my advice is to just move on to the next level and continue with the game. Come back to this one later on with a fresh mind.

With all that said, the yarn balls are completely optional in the game. They are smaller than cats and they don't give audio clues when you get close. They are meant to be harder to find and you don't need them to progress.

Has anyone found the last yellow yarn on the island with the two cat head statues? I've spent an hour looking for it and I'm beggining to think that it doesn't actually exist. If anyone knows where it is I'd really appreciate it if you might tell me where to find it. Thanks

Alright, there is now a hint system for the yarns. It's turned off by default, and you'll have to enable it in the settings in each play session. You'll still have to do some searching because it only shows you the general area, but hopefully you'll have a less frustrating time now :)
