By default, the game selects a renderer to use in the following order:

OpenGL 2.0 or greater.
DirectX 9, provided that all libraries are available.
OpenGL 1.x.
Software.

A small fraction of systems may experience problems when running hardware accelerated Ren'Py games. These problems are often due to buggy graphics drivers, and so your first step to fixing them should be to check for an update to your graphics card drivers.

If upgrading your video drivers does not fix the problem, you should consider switching video renderers, using the following steps.

Hold down Shift while starting Ren'Py, or press Shift+G once the game has started.
From the "Graphics Acceleration" menu that appears, choose the renderer to use.
Choose "Quit", then restart the game
.
We suggest trying OpenGL, DirectX, and Software, in that order.

Turn off G-Sync.
All renpy games have this flickering glitch if your fps is unlocked.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

All Ren'Py games flicker horribly for me now (used to work fine) if I'm in OpenGL (the default) and fullscreen. If I switch to DirectX and restart, all the flickering goes away.

Thank you very much. This is exactly the solution I have been looking for so long.
