1)Autoratchet: Do you mean the change in behavior in desktop where you just click a bolt and it attaches and tightens to spec? You can switch back to the manual wrenching mode in the settings app.
2) The workbench isn't in the catalog yet. We plan to add it in soon.
3) The parts scanner and legacy inspect function isn't in the game anymore. The old inspect app functions have been spread to a few new locations and everything except the diagrams are still in the game- Diagrams will make their way back in soon. For torques you can highlight an installed fastener to see the torque spec. There is also a service manual with step by step guides for most of the car systems.
With all the updates recently, I decided to start a new game. I am thus far a pretty experienced player, using the previous beta, and was running races & building an unlimited type car. In order to view all the changes, I started my new game in regular mode (not expert).
In the above post it appears that auto-ratchet is turned on by default, and to do manual wrenching you need to turn it off. When I play, I see in the lower right hand corner some helpful text saying "Auto Ratchet - Hold R" However, I do not get auto ratchet behavior at all, nor can I turn it on or off. In the settings app, it is turned on.
Could it be that auto ratchet is an unlockable feature in the current version of the game? I am very accustomed to holding R and got very quick at installing and removing parts, but with having to do manual ratcheting, I am making a mess of things...parts falling on the floor, etc.
If, alternatively, the auto ratcheting should be turned on at all times (if the app says it is), then maybe my auto ratchet key got remapped to something other than R ...?
The terminology gets confusing. Auto wrench is what we call the unlockable feature where you hold R and point at a bolt to fully install and remove it.
We also made a change to the default desktop ratchet interactions last year where you click on a bolt and the wrench applies torque to the set limit on its own. We have been talking about going back to defaulting to full manual wrench mode (which is an option in the settings) where players swing the mouse to operate the ratchet.
OK, it is an unlockable feature. Thank you. I have played the new version a while (about an hour) but have not yet unlocked it.
>> We have been talking about going back to defaulting to full manual wrench mode
Well, before auto wrench is unlocked, you are already defaulting to full manual wrench mode. Are you saying that, once unlocked, the game switches automatically to auto wrench? I have not unlocked that feature yet so I couldn't say.
Auto fasten is not what we are talking about here. That's an unlock right now and we plan to keep it an unlock for now.
In desktop there are 2 ways to manipulate the ratchets. The current default method, which we added last year, is that you click on a fastener with the tool equipped, the ratchet attaches, and it ratchets it down to the specified torque. The older behavior has been an option in settings: Click on a fastener, use R if you want to run the bolt down, and swing the mouse to ratchet.
(BTW, for anyone else reading this thread, the use of the R key to auto fasten / unfasten was indeed an unlockable feature that I got after about 10 jobs after starting a new game.)
