So is this game for beginners?
Like do you have to have knowledge of mechanical work, or does it teach you?

Its good to have some knowledge but to see if its what you would be interested in just watch a play trough on YouTube or something.

I have no idea how cars work, it did take me a few hours, but now I get more or less how to modify anything in the game
there is quite a bit of frustration and trial and error involved though ;)

Thanks, got this in a bundle, so no real loss how the game turns out, but gives me a chance to try atleast.

If you're ever at a loss as to what to do there's usually help at hand on Discord.
The Steam Discussions are generally pretty quiet for this game as everyone's on Discord instead.
However, if you're really unsure of what goes where, then I have two pretty deep Guides posted here on Steam. Just check the 'Guides' tab at the top of the screen and they'll pop up pretty quick.
They only cover a Stock N/A Catfish build between them - one for the engine and one for the chassis - but the stock Exocet is more or less the same as the Catfish bar a few obvious differences. Those guides should help you out for the most part if you get stuck.

I will certainly check them out, thank you.

I bought the bundle too, was well worth the cost. I feel like I should have paid the full price on steam, lol. I have a little experience, but there are manuals you unlock as you move onto tougher and tougher jobs.

Some advice, try putting nuts, washers, bolts, etc that goes to a part on or in the same place when setting them to the side. This helps with not forgetting something like a washer, lol. I had done that and was wondering why I could not get a castle nut on once.

Enjoy!

I do also recommend Car Mechanic Simulator, but this is a little more involved, with torque and keeping track of nuts and bolts. Those things is not a concern with CMS.

If you have no knowledge, bring up the manual for the job you want to do and it will give a step-by-step guide to follow inc 'highlighting' the next step to follow inc the parts to strip or put on. Click the small wheel icon next to the numbered steps and it will flash the necessary components on your car.
Move your self into positions to see them 'flashing'
Remember to bring up the manual *before* you start the job and enable 'auto highlight' at the bottom, it will them -as you take off the wheel nuts, move to the next stage automatically. Again click the 'wheel/sprocket' icon to highlight the parts etc.

Just take your time and it will all fall into place. On the old cars that came with manuals (Haynes) i used to underline the stage i was at with pencil. So to come back to it after tea or the next day. This is today's 'manual and pencil'! :104:

Yes they are in the ‘tab’ menu. As you unlock more advanced jobs, the manual will be updated with those jobs. If you like a job, purchase the necessary parts for it -after reading the manual- lay them out on your table or floor (front left brake pads for eg) and then get the job and off you go!

The "manuals" are rather incomplete and skip vital steps though so it's a bit of trial and error anyway.

Yes, you are correct. because they update the game and don't update the in-game manuals it ruins a lot of the bigger tasks -unless you have some CM experience you can wing it.
Jobs tend to jump the manual in large steps, which is off-putting.
Go to the Discord channel and raise your ideas and concerns.
You can also try EssBee's guides at the main page, see if he's 'caught up with the updates'
