Wrench
Pooring fluid
I play non VR with keyboard and mouse and i have trouble pooring fluids from cans. Most of the time it does not tilt, or tilt in a weird way spilling fluids all over.

are you using the funnel? not to be sarcastic but the steps i take when dealing with fluid poring is.

1. Remove cap and place funnel (with funnel in hand, left click over where cap was)
2. Remove cap from top of oil/coolant bottle.
3. While holding the bottle, hover cross-hair over funnel and hold left click.

following these steps my bottle tilts automatically and pours into the funnel.
if this doesn't work then try and capture what is happening and post it so we can see whats happening. Hope this helps.

I think I’ve just dealt with someone in a thread that I put on the CMS forum, that just couldn’t grasp the auto snap-to that CMS and pretty much all games do today. He said that oil went everywhere and I’m thinking “how?” So this post clicked with me in thinking that the player just clicks the container on the oil filler cap and it ‘snaps’ to it - like CMS. Instead of physically holding the container over the funnel.
He never followed up despite me providing as much info as possible. He said he was refunding. I think it’s a generation thing, if they are not used to older games that never had the ‘hand holding’ modern games have. ‘Surgeon simulator’ is the absolute brother of this 😂
Me? I’m like dragging my workbench with me to the car , dropping parts on it and basically I’m back to 16 years old again - I’m 59.
If I’m talking My Summer Car. I’m raging! The potential of that was spot on, then the dev murdered it by turning it into a stupid “postal” game and made the player more important than the car building. It was just plain immature and childish. Fine if it was revolutionary, but it’s not.
I don't think it's a generation thing, it's just an impatient person I'd say.
get the oil stand accessory.
fill the bottle on the stand, drop it in the oil fill hole and open the valve.
no spilt oil, no measuring oil level. it just stops filling at the correct level :)

I think your talking about ‘gearbox oil’.? Ordinary Castrol engine oil is poured. Gearbox oil is pumped, with a valve to stop the flow, along with brake fluid. Or is there something else? I’ve not come across an “oil stand accessory” yet?
no, i cant remember the name but its a big stand of castrol engine oil with 4x of the bottles that attach on the bottom

and an individual Epod bottle. note the funnel like nozzle, and the red on/off valve for flow.

Wow! Thanks. I didn’t even know that was in the game. That’s cool to look forward to.
See, this is the problem with a simulation for people that don’t have long attention spans - like the poster that I was talking about. The fun for me is *not* finding out. But for others it’s a potential lost sale for the devs.

Once again, thank you!
Have some points for being helpful!!
thanks, glad it helped.

Just unlocked this. I struggled getting the oil level right nearly every time. Got it right only once or twice and stopped doing those simple orders. Granted I stopped doing them once I started seeing new unrelated jobs.
Playing NON-VR is almost impossible (at least in build 145) !?

Sorry to say, but what strange unsubtle comments some people leave. (referring to some comments at the beginning of this thread.)

If you are a brand new player to this game, like me and you're playing in NON-VR-mode, it soon becomes totally clear this game was made for VR in 1st place !!!
Playing in NON-VR is a real struggle !!!
In that respect, adjusting to some minor issues in the tutorial was only child's play, but during my 1st real job - a coolant change - the fun really went off ! (And yes, I know how to do this job in the real world and so I did use the funnel !)
What "Bobby" suggested in his working order list: "3. While holding the bottle, hover cross-hair over funnel and hold left click", just doesn't work for me, at least not in build 145 ! (Don't no if it ever worked before that ?)
The behaviour of the jug during pouring is so fiddly and unpredictable, that it results in a lot of spill.
Some research for proper solutions included, it took me 3 jugs of oil and more than 1 hour to complete this simple task.
SO DON'T SAY I WAS IMPATIENT ! AND BY THE WAY, I'M NOT VERY OLD EITHER !
(Although, I think I might suffer from some severe form of Parkinson in this game; like the world has never seen before !?)

I know the game is in early access; I embrace the fact that this game has so much depth/details, but at the moment this game is still unsuitable for NON-VR as far as I've experienced !

TO THE DEVS: Although in early access, please don't advertise this game for NON-VR for now; unless you've given it some proper attention in a nearby release !? (For me, asking whatever amount of money for whatever what release, shouldn't have issues this basic ! It always makes me think: “did they even try this themselves at all ???”)

Nevertheless: Wish you all the best and good luck at further development !

Sorry, but I’ve been playing games for decades -loooong before devs had decent engines that modelled proper limbs/holding. This is no different. I can manipulate items so they stand and drop on tables/floor and pour oils, coolant as second nature. It’s what players are used because, for a start, I don’t come from a VR generation. It was 3D for me.
To be honest there’s loads of games still out there that have weird idiosyncratic behaviour. PlayWay titles have bizarre come control/manipulation methods. It’s just your not used to it or kinda want to accept it - past VR.
As far as I know on discord ages ago there was mention about ‘self righting’ containers, but it’s dragging on now to the point I don’t bother following it anymore. Aside from new car ramps, engine parts (V8) I don’t know anymore.
It is the devs fault all this as they don’t speak here and you are entitled to your frustration. If you have under 2 hrs refund it. It’s about the best advice for you to do.
